This position is mainly responsible for developing and maintaining Stamford Hospital’s cost accounting system, and associated decision support analytics. The position also assists with budget development and analysis, case mix analysis, state regulatory reporting requirements, statistical reporting and analysis, and productivity monitoring. Preparation of documentation and financial analyses to support management decision making processes generally is an essential part of the role.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in budget process for assigned areas of responsibility. Creates worksheets, identifies data sources and gathers information from and for departments. Analyzes data, identifies variances, and provides reports for management review. Meets timeframes for producing monthly and annual financial reports for assigned areas. Maintains reports generated for historical and budget comparisons, trending, and analysis.
Involved in annual operating and capital budget process including creating budget files, budget training and creating reports used in approval process.
Assists in required Office of Health Care Access (OHCA) reporting ensuring accuracy and compliance with state regulations.
Develops new or revised reports using Oracle, Excel and/or SQL database to provide management with the information necessary to support organizational growth and development.
Perform special projects as requested by management.
Responsible for business partnering with senior leaders monthly.
Lead team on Premier benchmarking and productivity tool.
Become point person on one of the teams collaborations for all budget and modeling requests.
Constructs base variance reports and works with counterparts and Budget Manager to create/automate in Oracle ERP
Candidate learns Oracle EPM Admin tasks and becomes team backup.
Proactively identifies ways to improve processes, financial performance, and reporting. Implements changes.
Self-starter with the ability to work under pressure independently and as part of a team.
Effectively challenge business partners/functional units in a business focused, solution oriented, and communicative approach.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and 5 years’ experience in a related financial position OR bachelor’s degree in business with CPA, CMA, or FHFMA affiliation and 5 years experience in financial position.
High level of literacy with personal computers with demonstrated abilities using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Oracle experience is a plus.
