The Graphic Design Coordinator is responsible for creating and maintaining the visual identity of Project Open Hand, producing a wide range of digital and print materials that support fundraising, outreach, and program communications. This includes designing graphics for publications, digital and mailed appeals, newsletters, flyers, social media, and web content. The Coordinator ensures brand consistency across all platforms and collaborates with the Communications and Development teams to deliver timely, mission-aligned visuals, and occasionally translates basic details from creative briefs into draft copy that can be refined by content editors. This role offers an opportunity to expand a digital and print design portfolio, including preparing print-ready files and coordinating with external printers for appeal production (prepress coordination). This is a temporary full-time (40 hour week) position that will range from October through early December 2025.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• Minimum one year of professional experience in graphic design, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment.
• Advanced knowledge of layout, typography, line composition, color, and other graphic design fundamentals.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, OneDrive, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Word).
• Ability to understand audience and create engaging graphic compositions and collateral.
• Ability to translate basic creative brief details into draft copy for visual content.
• Portfolio of graphic design work that illustrates range of skills across different mediums.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects, with high attention to detail.
• A keen eye for effective graphic design and Photoshop skills are a must.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with a diverse range of partners, peers & volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:
• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, or related field a plus.
• Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising or development communications.
• Experience producing content for social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
• Experience preparing print-ready files and working with printers or production vendors, especially for donor appeals and other print collateral (prepress coordination).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Under the direct supervision of the Director, Communications and Government Relations, develop visual and graphic collateral that supports Project Open Hand’s mission and programs.
• Create graphic and written content, design layout, and assist in production of POH digital and print materials including newsletters, brochures, annual reports, flyers, and other publications.
• Use graphic design software and work with a wide variety of media.
• Adhere to the POH brand guidelines.
• Prepare print-ready files and coordinate with external printers for production of mailed appeals and other print collateral (prepress coordination). ➕ Support the development and posting of visual content for social media channels and the agency website, with attention to audience engagement and accessibility.
• Translate basic creative brief details into draft copy or visual concepts that can be refined by content editors.
