Summary of Position |
The Pharmacist is responsible for managing the pharmacy in conformity with all federal and state regulations. The Pharmacist will consult with medical providers about pharmacotherapies, provides education, counseling and participates in quality improvement activities. The position requires a great deal of accuracy in interpreting prescribers’ orders, maintenance of a dispensing and labeling system, custody of controlled substances and support staff with overseeing the 340B programming. The Pharmacist will model behaviors consistent with the published values and the Code of Conduct of RCCHC.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Preferred 340B direct work experience and Spanish speaking individual
- Proficiency in computerized pharmacy management programs, prefer experience with QS1 software
- Demonstrated commitment to work with low-income and/or medically underserved individuals and communities
- Prefer individual with management and supervisory experience
- Works effectively with others and is able to organize workload, as well as assume responsibility and maintain confidentiality
- Must be able to work independently, exercise appropriate decision-making skills, and function effectively on a team.
- Must be able to speak and communicate clearly and effectively
Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited pharmacy school
Experience: Minimum of two years of full time work experience as a pharmacist
Certification(s)/Licensure: Current and unrestricted license to practice in North Carolina as a Registered Pharmacist and ability to meet the NC Board of Pharmacy’s requirements
Knowledge:
- Knowledge and thorough understanding of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s) in regard to the Federal 330 Public Health Service Act
- Knowledge of thorough understanding of the 340B program
- Knowledge of computer systems and applications.

Essential Functions |
- Maintain a prescription dispensing system that conforms to state laws and NC Board of Pharmacy regulations
- Provide consultation and advice to medical practitioners about pharmacotherapies
- Provide patient education and counseling on medication use/misuse, drug interactions and side effects
- Maintain/Assist with adequate drug inventory, paying particular attention to the most economical purchasing opportunities, including but not limited to those available through the US Public Health Service Contract
- Provide Immunizations according to ACIP guidelines
- Maintain working relationships with pharmacy wholesalers and local partnering contract pharmacies and other stakeholders
- Provide assistance with administrative and clinical supervision to the pharmacy technicians
- Participate in quality improvement activities
- Maintain a proactive approach to patient, CHC saving opportunities
- Maintain knowledge of Medicare Part D programming
- Ability to work at all sites when needed
- Complete tasks delegated by the Pharmacy Manager and/or Pharmacy Director
- Participate as an active member of the RCCHC team
- The Pharmacist agrees to provide a written notice of resignation 30 days in advance of the last day of work. (If the Pharmacist quits work and fails to give at least 30 days advance notice, the Provider forfeits all accrual vacation leave and will be required to repay any monetary advances, costs of processing visas, work permits, etc.).
