Primary Purpose

The primary purpose is the overseeing of bird vaccination, serology sampling, and crew monitoring to ensure the health and biosecurity of poultry flocks with effective immunization and disease surveillance. This role is responsible for coordinating and supervising vaccination schedules, verifying proper administration techniques, and maintaining compliance with health protocols. This position will oversee the collection and handling of serology samples to monitor flock immunity and detect potential disease outbreaks and will also lead and train vaccination and movement crews, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and safety in all procedures. Additionally, the role involves data tracking, reporting, and collaboration with veterinary and operational teams to optimize flock performance and health outcomes.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate and monitor flock vaccination schedules across breeder sites to ensure timely and complete immunization. Verify proper vaccine handling and administration techniques, including dosage accuracy, injection site, and equipment sanitation. Conduct spot audits during vaccination events to assess crew performance and adherence to protocols. Document deviations and implement corrective actions to maintain immunization integrity.
  2. Responsible for overseeing the inventory management of vaccines and related supplies, including tracking stock levels, ensuring proper storage conditions, coordinating with procurement and distribution teams, and maintaining accurate records. This role supports operational efficiency and ensures compliance with health and safety standards across all breeder operations.
  3. Responsible for coordinating and supervising the transition of pullets to hen housing, ensuring accurate tracking of movement schedules and health status. Duties include collecting and analyzing flock performance data, overseeing vaccine trial implementation, monitoring outcomes, and collaborating with veterinary and research teams to ensure compliance with trial protocols and biosecurity standards.
  4. Responsible for overseeing compliance with National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) standards and managing flock health reporting processes. This includes monitoring health data, coordinating testing and documentation, ensuring timely and accurate submission of reports, and collaborating with veterinary and regulatory teams to maintain biosecurity and disease prevention protocols.
  5. Actively attend and contribute to various meetings including safety briefings, departmental updates, vendor coordination sessions, and contractor engagements. Responsibilities include representing breeder operations interests, communicating relevant updates, documenting key takeaways, and ensuring follow-through on assigned action items to support operational alignment and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Poultry, Animal Science or equivalent.
  • 5+ years’ experience in poultry production management, breeder flock management or poultry health programs desired.
  • Professional Animal Care Council Certificate (PACCO).
  • Experience coordinating vaccination schedules, serology sampling, and crew training.
  • Proven track record of data reporting, compliance monitoring, and cross-functional collaboration with veterinary teams.
  • Working knowledge of National Chicken Council (NCC) Animal Welfare audit guidelines.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Bilingual preferred.
