Overview:
Associate to work on an NIH-funded project that studies the immune response to a bacterial pathogen.
Responsibilities:- Perform complex experiments in the fields of bacteriology and immunology. Includes work with molecular biology, protein chemistry, immunoassays and live animals (mice, survival surgery).
- Provide scientific input to the design of experimental work and interpretation of data.
- Guide, train, manage and supervise laboratory research assistants, students, and research fellows.
- Self-guidance to learn new methodologies and gain expertise in new scientific areas, as needed.
- Supervise and manage purchase orders, equipment, and inventories.
- Supervise and manage the onboarding and certification of laboratory staff.
- Abide by established lab standards for communication, documentation, organization, and teamwork.
Education requirement: Minimum: Ph.D. (or other doctorate-level degree)
Technical/computer skills:
- Excel (proficient); Microsoft office
- Specialty software
Prior experience:
- Five years (or more) of wet laboratory experience
