Dunckel Veterinary Hospital is currently seeking a dedicated, skilled, and self-motivated Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our growing team! The ideal candidate will be a reliable team player who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment and committed to delivering excellent patient care.

Shift Details: 
  • 3 x 12-hour shifts per week (8 AM – 8 PM)
  • One Saturday shift per month required
    • Regular Saturday hours: 8 AM – 5 PM
    • Once a month, an extended Saturday (8 AM – 8 PM) with $3/hour shift differential
Compensation: $24-$27
 
Key Technical Skills Required:
  • Proficiency in all core LVT skills, including:
    • SQ, IM, and IV injections
    • Venipuncture and IV catheter placement
    • Cystocentesis
    • Radiograph positioning and safety
    • Microscope analysis (ear cytology, skin scrapings, urinalysis, blood smears)
  • Surgical and dental proficiency, including:
    • Surgical assisting
    • Full-mouth dental radiographs and dental cleaning
  • In-house lab testing:
    • Experience with Heska lab equipment
    • Performing and interpreting rapid tests (FIV/FeLV, Parvo, HW)
    • Bionote analyzers (T4, CPL, BNP)
  • Additional plus: Basic ultrasound knowledge

Other Responsibilities:

  • Client interaction and patient handling in exam rooms
  • Maintaining efficiency and staying on task with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with Cornerstone practice management software is a strong plus
Dunckel Veterinary Hospital is an AAHA-accredited practice with four doctors, and we are excited to welcome two new grads in 2026. We are seeking a technician who is eager to grow with us and support our expanding team.

 

In December, we’re moving into a newly renovated, state-of-the-art facility that includes:

  • 12 spacious exam rooms
  • Separate dog and cat waiting areas
  • Two fully equipped surgical suites
  • Brand-new dental suite with two tables and digital dental X-ray
  • Modern imaging capabilities: digital radiography, ultrasound/laser therapy room

Full-time team members will be awarded additional PTO based on their years of service.

Holiday Pay 48 hours to apply towards 6 recognized holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day)

*The holiday PTO hours can be used at the team member’s discretion to cover the actual holiday as observed by the hospital or other absences with approval from their Manager.

Responsibilities:
  1. Deliver patient care under the supervision of a veterinarian (DVM).
  2. Maintain clear and accurate medical, client, and case records using appropriate terminology and grammar.
  3. Review medical records, treatment estimates, and discharge instructions with clients, and respond to basic animal care inquiries, escalating medical questions to veterinarians as needed.
  4. Guide and support medical support staff to ensure efficient shift operations and workflow.
  5. Mentor team members to encourage career growth and personal development.
  6. Provide input for 360-degree performance evaluations of employees.
  7. Assist with client services including appointment scheduling, payments, check-in, and courteous phone communication.
  8. Provide feedback and suggest improvements to training programs; participate in training sessions, job shadows, and working interviews.
  9. Perform assigned cleaning, clinic upkeep, and equipment maintenance tasks.
  10. Delegate cleaning or other duties during slow periods when a supervisor is unavailable.
  11. Identify and address areas needing additional attention within the clinic environment.
  12. Answer client inquiries confidently about routine procedures and animal care.
  13. Communicate effectively with team members and clients to support patient care and hospital operations.
  14. Perform other related duties as assigned within the nature and level of work.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program.
  • Current state veterinary technician license in good standing.
  • One year of experience in the veterinary industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency in a range of technical skills including laboratory procedures, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental care, and nursing.
  • Ability to administer subcutaneous (SQ), intramuscular (IM), and intravenous (IV) injections.
  • Knowledge of commonly used veterinary medications including dosage, side effects, and client communication.
  • Understanding of anesthesia and patient recovery monitoring, with the ability to recognize and report changes in patient status.
  • Ability to remain calm and efficient in stressful or fast-paced environments, including medical emergencies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfort and confidence in handling animals of all sizes and temperaments.

 

Physical Requirements

 

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds independently, and over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Capacity to sit, stand, and walk on hard surfaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in noisy environments with sounds from animals and medical equipment.
  • Routine exposure to animals that may bite or scratch.
  • Occasional exposure to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medications/controlled substances.
  • Adequate hearing to understand verbal instructions and client communication.
  • Vision capabilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate medical equipment and computer systems
