Job Summary
The Community Registered Dietitian Nutritionist will support the comprehensive nutrition care mission of Open Hand Atlanta providing a broad range of nutrition and health related consultations, educational sessions and training, as well as developing programs and educational tools to convey messages to the agency’s clients, partners, and employees.

Duties/ Responsibilities
- Provide individualized medical nutrition therapy in clinic, worksite, telenutrition, and home settings to include HIV/AIDS, diabetes/pre-diabetes, hypertension, weight management, kidney disease, and GI conditions, as well as nutrition across the lifecycle with a strong emphasis in senior nutrition.
- Research and develop educational tools for print and electronic medium to support and reinforce client nutrition-related lifestyle and behavior changes.
- Present evidenced-based curriculums and education to clients in a group setting and in the community including Diabetes Self-Management and Chronic Disease Self-Management.
- Support grant-funded projects aimed at optimal nutrition and positive health behavior change. Manage outcome data for these projects.
- Monitor selected nutrition, health and wellness programs to ensure optimal client reach and that nutrition benchmarks are established and achieved.
- Provide telenutrition, telephone, and email support to engage clients in health-promoting behaviors.
- Participate in health events across the city of Atlanta, as needed.
- Provide oversight and feedback to dietetic interns throughout their rotation.
- Stay abreast of current research in community nutrition, HIV/AIDS, senior nutrition, as well as chronic disease management.
- Actively participate in a diverse environment across Open Hand and community partners and is a positive teammate to all employees, volunteers, and partners.

- Experience in organization and assessment of priorities is a must, as well as able to multi-task.

Education/Experience
- B.S. Degree in Dietetics or related field of study from an ACEND accredited program. MS or MPH preferred.
- Credentialing as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and Licensed Dietitian, State of Georgia. Or RD-eligible taking the exam within 1 month of start date.
- Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of professional experience in dietetics. Experience in educational tool development, health promotion, and disease management and prevention.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office including Excel and Word. Creativity using Canva and excellent writing and public speaking skills.
- Experience counseling and educating in Spanish preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Local travel required to teach classes across metro Atlanta. Travel may be required for conferences and trainings.
- Working vehicle, vehicle insurance, and valid driver’s license.
- The employee is regularly required to sit at a computer, answer the telephone and perform other office duties.
- The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, drive a car, and lift and/or move 25 pounds.
