Position Description
The Department seeks a colleague with diverse skills, knowledge, and experiences who will advance the landscape architecture discipline, promote critical and creative design approaches, and integrate social, technical, and biophysical processes in the design of resilient landscapes with spatial experiences that inspire and delight.
Recently, the TTU Office of Research & Innovation embarked on a campus-wide initiative focused on maximizing the impact of research and creative endeavors. In doing so, TTU identified five Strategic Research Themes, which include Systems Resilience & Adaptability, Powering Our Future, Advancing One Health, Rural & Urban Development, and Strengthening National Security.
Applicants should demonstrate how their research and teaching emphasis connects to the TTU Strategic Research Themes. Candidates who have very strong records of scholarship supported by extramural funding and who have the proven capacity or clear potential to bring externally sponsored research to TTU are encouraged to apply. Service duties include program-building, as well as a commitment to extracurricular activities. Service to the department, college, and university is expected.

Major/Essential Functions
As a faculty member in the Department of Landscape Architecture, you will be expected to:
- Contribute to the teaching mission of the DoLA by combining your areas of interest and expertise.
- Mentor and recruit graduate students (MLA and PhD) who share interests with your area of teaching expertise and research agenda.
- Develop a record of peer-reviewed/funded research that promotes the mission and vision of the DoLA.
- Provide service to the DoLA, the Davis College, TTU, and the profession that connects with your areas of interest and expertise.

Preferred Qualifications
- US professional licensure and/or a strong record of professional practice.
- Record of peer-reviewed research and/or juried design awards at the regional, national, and/or international level.
- Evidence of capacity to generate external funding and/or evidence of an impactful research agenda.
- Demonstrated experience with outreach and engagement. This includes but is not limited to community-engaged projects, working with entities outside of the university, including lectures, workshops, or exhibits, K-12 outreach, policy and advocacy, speaking engagements, a university design center that engages with the community, etc.

The DoLA has long-standing relationships with other campus programs, including the Huckabee College of Architecture and the multi-disciplinary Land Use, Planning, Management and Design PhD program. The DoLA has facilities in two buildings on campus. The CASNR Annex is home to department and faculty offices as well as classroom, computer lab, printing, plotting, and digital fabrication spaces. The Landscape Architecture studio space is located in the newly renovated Agricultural Pavilion, one of the first buildings on the Texas Tech University campus.

Faculty Qualifications
- Accredited landscape architecture degree (BLA or MLA) and a terminal degree (PhD) in a related discipline OR a terminal landscape architecture degree (MLA).
- Experience teaching landscape architecture studio or lecture courses (this includes teaching while a graduate student) in at least one of the following areas:
- Resilient landscapes
- Urbanization and urban design
- Landscape performance
- Landscape technology
- Strong landscape architecture skills and knowledge as evidenced by an emerging or established research record in at least one of the following areas:
- Resilient landscapes
- Urbanization and urban design
- Landscape performance
- Landscape technology
