Status: Full-time 37.5 hours
Hourly Rate: up to $21.50
SUMMARY
Provides assistance with Partners In Caring Respite program & Exhale ROC Respite as well as St. John’s Senior Living collaboration project which helps caregivers receive volunteer respite and pilots a Virtual Reality Intervention with caregivers and people living with dementia. Services are provided in Monroe County with support at drop-in respite programs in Wayne, Ontario and Livingston Counties. Includes assistance with recruitment, screening, training and support of volunteers with a specific focus on recruiting in-home volunteers as well as recruitment of caregivers and their care partners to attend ROC Respite. Responsible for assistance with project data collection and reporting.
1. Program
1.1 Plans, organizes and runs activities at ROC Respite on Tuesdays (11 – 3:30) and St. John’s Respite (10:30 – 3:30) on Thursdays.
1.2 Supports family caregivers with information and assistance as well as referrals as applicable.
1.3 Actively engages in all Partners In Caring and Exhale program operations.
1.4 Member of FLCI team and Partners In Caring Respite team.
1.5 Assist with VR Intervention project.
1.5.1 Runs VR activity at all drop-in respite programs a minimum of 1x/month at each location. Geneseo: Home Away From Home; Ontario: Safe Haven; Greece: Greece Baptist Church; Macedon: Macedon Public Library
1.5.2 Assists with completion of intake paperwork for all participants in the intervention.
1.5.3 Assists with ensuring all caregivers and care receivers complete all pre and post intervention surveys.
1.5.4 Assists with drop-off and pick-up of VR equipment for volunteer visits.
1.5.5 Provides respite and utilizes VR intervention to up to 2 families weekly.
1.5.6 Assists with ensuring volunteers and PIC Respite staff are trained on and understand how to use VR equipment.
1.5.6.1 Troubleshoot VR issues and concerns.
2. Volunteer Management
2.1. Participates in the recruiting, coaching, training and monitoring of Respite volunteers with a focus on those who are Black/African American, Latinx and/or LGBTQ+.
2.2. Participates in the recruiting, coaching, training and monitoring of Respite volunteers to participate in the Virtual Reality intervention.
2.3. Works with team to maintain acceptable level of active volunteers for program.
2.4. Works with team to meet, screen and orient individual volunteer applicants. Conduct and schedule volunteer orientation and training.
2.5. Works with team to provide ongoing support for volunteers, including counseling, periodic check-ins and answering questions.
2.6. With team, coordinates volunteer recognition program for FLCI volunteers.
2.7. Assists in preparation of newsletters and other outreach to volunteers and partners.
2.8. Works with team to complete all ongoing program, caregiver, care receiver and volunteer surveys.
3. Outreach.
3.1. Works with team to arrange and conduct community presentations for visibility of In-home and drop-in respite programs and with the team assists with recruitment of caregivers and volunteers.
3.1.1. Specific focus on volunteer and caregiver recruitment to people who are Black/African American, Latinx and/or LGBTQ+.
3.2. With team, conducts outreach to community groups, faith communities, and volunteer organizations.
4. General Administration & Operations
4.1 Gather and maintain data and files regarding volunteers and care receivers, and program files.
4.2 Utilizes Peer Place, Excel, Better Impact, other online systems and databases.
4.3 Provides reports as required – both computerized and manual.
4.4 Provides on-going updates and monthly reports.
4.5 Prepares reports as requested by the Supervisor as needed.
5. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Service or related field or equivalent experience.
Experience: Comfort with VR technology required. Experience using VR for personal and/or professional use a plus. Knowledge of and experience working with people who have Alzheimer’s Disease/dementia a plus. Volunteer recruitment and management experience a plus.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to travel by car. Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
- Excellent technology skills to run VR program. ALL training provided.
- Computer skills: Word, Outlook with ability in Excel required.
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to complete reports utilizing basic math and Excel skills
- Basic knowledge of principles of human services research
- Ability to perform work at a desk or at a personal computer station
- Some standing during group presentations and professional trainings.
- Excellent verbal, written and communication skills are required
- Interface with all levels of personnel and with staff from other organizations
- Ability to maintain composure under deadlines
- Ability to work inclusively with diverse people and situations
