Billing Specialist
DEPARTMENT Accounts Receivable
REPORTING MANAGER: A/R Manager
WORK SCHEDULE: 8:30AM TO 5:00PM Monday through Friday
STATUS: Non-exempt Overtime as needed.
RATE: Hourly
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Entry Level, 1-3 years of relevant experience
Summary of duties and responsibilities
Perform various accounts receivable functions including but are not limited to the following: cash receipts, billing, and other A/R administrative support. Serve as back-up for other Accounts Receivable functions. Member must be able to work well with others while pursuing team goals for productivity and innovation.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
A/R
- Apply payments to customer accounts from various sources – checks, wires, ACHs, credit cards and intercompany transfers.
- Process Customer NSFs and misapplied payments
- Serve as a primary contact for billing questions received to the accounting email; Manage the billing email inbox.
- Make follow-up phone calls to customers as needed.
- Assist with Installation and Contract billing.
- Process Credit Memos, Refunds and Rate Rollbacks on a daily basis
- Provide back-up for cash applications during peak times, vacations and absences.
- Provide backup for processing monthly recurring customer credit card & ACH payments, monthly recurring invoices & monthly statements
General
- Open and sort incoming mail
- File AR documents
- Respond to incoming Customer emails to Accounting department
- Assist with answering incoming Accounting calls during peak call times/absences and provide backup for Customer Care.
- Provide general assistance to Accounting Team as needed.
Experience
This position requires a highly responsible team-oriented individual who can work closely with other members doing closely related jobs. Individual must have knowledge of accounting principles, strong computer skills, very strong organizational skills and a proven track record of handling numerous priorities at once. One to 3 years Accounts Receivable/relevant accounting experience is required, and customer service experience is preferred. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel/Word.
