The single corporate service is delivered across both organisation. You may be based at either IWT or PHU and individuals may be required to undertake business travel between sites. For leaders managing staff across multi-site locations, you will need to be visible and provide in person leadership. The arrangements and frequency will be agreed locally.

Finance is part of the Single Corporate Service providing a service across both Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth University Hospitals NHS Trust. Financial Services is a key part of the Finance Department, and the role is part of a multidisciplinary team delivering a high quality service to the public, customers, suppliers and both Trusts. Individuals may be required to occasionally undertake business travel between sites as agreed with their line manager.
The role provides a comprehensive and effective administrative service to support the smooth and efficient running of the busy Financial Services team. The post holder will support the senior Financial Services staff in the completion of financial analysis to inform management decisions and support the development, implementation and monitoring of expenditure and income processes on behalf of both Trusts, as required.
The key day to day responsibilities consist of:-
- Cashier duties including selling of ferry tickets plus ad hoc cover for other tasks due to sickness and annual leave. This includes both hospital sites on the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth.
- Control account reconciliations
- Maintenance of authorised signatory list
- Supplier set ups
- Inputting faster payments and payment requests including cross Solent travel claims.
- Assisting with annual accounts tasks including petty cash and stock
- Oracle (finance ledger) queries including supplier liaison, stationery orders, opening/closing and amendment of user accounts
- Directing/chasing non-purchase order and purchase order notifications
The role allows for some flexible hybrid working arrangements, however, the post holder must be on site at least two days per week.
We are seeking someone who will have basic accounting skills, good communication skills and a willingness to study.
The post holder should possess a good working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook, have excellent organisational skills and be flexible and adaptable at work to meet competing priorities.

- The postholder is required to have basic knowledge of health service financial management, Information analysis
- and the use of information across the NHS.
- Basic accounting skills and forecasting skills
- Evidence of communication skills with non-financial managers on financial issues
