Position Overview

The Curriculum Assistant is responsible for developing engaging, age-appropriate daily program plans that align with the Boys & Girls Club’s mission to inspire and empower youth. This part-time role centers on program design and planning, with occasional on-site support for special projects like Youth of the Year, field trips, and other unique initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Program Plan Development 

  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Programs to design creative, impactful program plans tailored to youth interests and developmental needs.
  • Research innovative activities in key focus areas, such as STEM, arts, life skills, and wellness.
  • Develop clear, step-by-step program guides that ensure smooth implementation by on-site staff.
  • Prepare materials and resources for program plans to support successful, consistent execution across sites.
  • Can lead a classroom of different age groups if needed.
  • Visit sites weekly to see hands-on how programs are going.


2. Special Project Support (as needed)

  • Attend and support special initiatives, including Youth of the Year, field trips, and community events.
  • Provide on-site assistance for these events, helping with program execution and collecting feedback from staff and youth.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure program plans are adapted and optimized for special project needs.


3. Administrative Tasks

  • Maintain a well-organized program plan library categorized by theme, age group, and focus area.
  • Document and incorporate feedback from special projects to enhance future program plans.


Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old. 
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED), some college preferred. 
  • Successful completion of local, state, and national background checks. 
  • Commitment to maintaining a drug-free environment and passing required screenings.
  • Demonstrated passion for working with children and promoting their well-being. 
  • Experience in program planning, youth development, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and creative skills, with a keen interest in designing engaging youth programming.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both staff and youth.
  • Enthusiasm for developing innovative, impactful programs aligned with the organization’s objectives.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Mobility to perform active programming needs. 
  • Ability to attend occasional off-site events and manage hands-on project support.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
