Medical Assistant
Our Occupational Health Clinic provides patient care and services to our employees, including injury treatment and medical surveillance. We are hiring a Medical Assistant to support our Post-Offer, Pre-Placement (POPP) program and assist with medical documentation review. The work that you will do plays a critical part in ensuring accurate testing procedures and timely reporting in partnership with Physician Assistants (PAs) and Medical Doctors (MDs).
What Else Will You be Doing?
- Conducting functional testing procedures as part of a structured Post-Offer, Pre-Placement (POPP) program
- Compiling functional test results and collaborating with PAs and MDs to support report completion
- Performing office administration, patient care, and medical surveillance testing to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and that our employees receive exceptional occupational health services
- Providing excellent customer service and patient care, including obtaining vital signs and patient history, and assisting providers with procedures
- Managing front office duties, including scheduling, records management, and referral management
- Administering vaccines and conducting medical surveillance testing (audiometric, Pulmonary Function Tests, vision screening, urine testing, respirator fit testing)
- Administering EKG, drug, and alcohol testing, along with blood/phlebotomy testing
- Maintaining medication log and preparing medication orders and processing prescription refill requests as directed by providers
- Maintaining Case Management for employees being treated for work-related injuries, including tracking referrals and obtaining outside provider and therapist notes
- Maintaining equipment and medical supplies, including conducting weekly inventory, re-ordering supplies, stocking office rooms, cleaning, and troubleshooting
- Receiving and triaging phone calls to direct appropriate care
Who You Are
- Possession of a Medical Assistant Certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required
- Demonstrated experience in an occupational health capacity
- Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting and/or graduate of an accredited vocational Medical Assistant program (or military equivalent) is valued
- Possession of an Occupational Hearing Conservationist Certificate, or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Exerts up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a small amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those required for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a small amount, a job should be rated Light Work when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree or when it requires sitting most of the time, but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls and/or when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is small. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding work even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
- Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions within an office working environment.
