The Employment Specialist /Job Coach performs as an integral part of the management team working with adults with disabilities or mental health challenges. The Job Coaches primary duty is to secure community-based employment for individuals with disabilities or mental health challenges. The Job Coach may also provide evaluation and intensive training services in the community for the individuals served and supported as their caseloads permit. The job coach will be the primary contact for VR counselors for all individuals assigned.

Part-time Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday; flexible scheduling

Community Based Role: 

  • Travel throughout the Jacksonville and surrounding areas

Your Role in Our Mission 
Helps adults with disabilities or mental health needs get and keep community jobs. Serves as the main contact for VR counselors and supports each person from job search through on-the-job training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with employers to find/create job opportunities.
  • Help with resumes, applications, interviews, and presenting qualifications to employers.
  • Contact each assigned person at least weekly and document the contact.
  • Lead job development activities for the program.
  • Keep accurate case records; enter notes in the EMR within 24 hours of service.
  • Coordinate with families, case managers, and partner agencies.
  • Model strong work habits (attendance, punctuality, appearance, teamwork).
  • Provide job coaching and intensive training per each person’s service plan and schedule.
  • Accompany individuals to worksites to deliver on-the-job training as needed.
  • Analyze job tasks and complete job task analyses when required.

What We’re Looking For  

  • A High School diploma or equivalent. Assoc. or Bachelors preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with adults with disabilities is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the labor market and community services agencies, as well as skills in writing task analysis, systemic job training, counseling, advocacy, and supported employment, are preferred
  • Must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license, clean driving record, and active insurance.
  • Reliable transportation is necessary to service this community-based program.
