OVERVIEW
Corner Brook Pulp and Paper is currently looking for a candidate for the position of 2nd Class Power Engineer working in the Steam Plant. Power Engineers are responsible for the safe operation of high pressure boiler and auxiliaries including pumps, compressors, etc. Responsible to check and maintain demineralized water treatment system, and the safe startup and operation of a 17 MW Siemens Turbogenerator.
Primary requirements include the following:
· Ensure the plant & associated equipment is operated in compliance with applicable regulations, policies and procedures.
· Participate in the plant lockout/tagout procedures to ensure tasks are completed safely.
· Perform plant rounds outside of control room as required.
· Troubleshoot operational problems and initiate maintenance requests.
· Provide work direction to assistant shift engineers by coordinating work activities & providing guidance /technical advice.
· Previous experience working in a 1st class plant is considered an asset
· Knowledge of safe plant operations
· Ability to work in a fast paced environment and changing priorities
· Previous experience in a production environment is also an asset.
- Willingness to work at tasks outside the Steam Plant as required starting out, including labour work, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate must have:
· As a minimum, candidates will have a 2nd Class Power Engineering Ticket
· Previous experience working in an industrial environment is an asset
· Strong commitment to Health and Safety
· Ability to work in a fast paced environment and changing priorities
· Ability to work short notice and after hour calls
· All applicants will have recent Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) training and possess Standard First Aid Certification
· Applicant must provide proof of all relevant qualifications and be available to participate in a pre-employment testing procedure
