As the Accounting Assistant, you will be responsible for a full monthly accounting cycle in supporting accounts payable and receivable, budgeting and generating accurate and timely financial statements. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and have strong time management, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills. Must also be detail-oriented and organized and meet set deadlines.

Must work closely with onsite Property Managers to ensure set procedures are followed and processed in a timely fashion.


Duties:

  

  • Print Statement of Deposit reports and process weekly resident refund payments
  • Coordinate with field personnel to resolve resident refund processing issues
  • Make good faith efforts to resolve and re-issue uncashed resident refund payments
  • Maintain compliance annual state unclaimed property reporting for all outstanding resident refund payments
  • Coordinate with RealPage vendor credentialling team and field personnel to ensure all vendors are in compliance with insurance and other requirements 
  • Assist with NSF processing, month end close cycle, and check deposit scanning
  • Maintain property deposit ticket inventory
  • Invoice data entry and reconciliation of security deposit bank accounts 
  • Maintain filing system for company records stored in accounting
  • Assist with DMV requirements on company vehicles and personal property tax processing
  • Other duties as assigned 

Requirements

     

Education: 


  • A high school diploma is required, post high school education or equivalent experience is desired

 

Experience: 


  • 2+ years experience working in an office environment where data entry, organization, and communication skills are required for success

 

Knowledge:


  • Knowledge of mathematics and   Microsoft office products
  • Knowledge of Accounting software   databases
  • Knowledge of and previous   experience with data entry and accounts payable processing in a fast-paced   office environment 

 

Skills:


  • Must be able to read, write, and   speak English proficiently.
  • A strong working knowledge of   Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Experience with Accounting Software   
  • Effective organizational and   communication skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize   multiple projects

 

Abilities:

  • Read, analyze, articulate and   compile information for business correspondence
  • Communicate effectively with   various team members for the purpose of obtaining information, resolving   workflow issues, and moving processes forward
  • Work as a team player and respect   those you work with
  • Embrace change and new ideas
  • Willingness to assist with   additional tasks if/when the need arises
