United Way Miami, Inc. is hiring an SVP, Marketing & Communications to join our team. As an SVP, Marketing & Communications, you will serve as a hands-on leader responsible for aligning and integrating marketing, communications, public relations, creative, and brand management functions across the organization. A leader who can translate the organization’s mission and impact into compelling messages that inspire action and investment. This role plays a critical part in elevating United Way Miami’s visibility, reputation, and engagement with donors, partners, and the community to support continued mission growth. The SVP will act as a connective force across departments, helping ensure alignment with organizational goals, supporting teams, and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the organization’s marketing, branding, media, public relations, campaign promotion, market research, crisis communication, and marketing-related customer relationship activities, all essential to enhancing the organization’s brand reputation and community support.
- Manage, develop, and mentor department personnel for a high-performing, service-oriented team that supports other departments with communication and creative expertise.
- Handles internal and external communications, ensuring consistent messaging across all audiences and platforms.
- Works closely with the CEO & President in preparing for media and speaking engagements.
- Monitors external media environment, conducts assessments, and proactively keeps the CEO and leadership team abreast of market issues impacting United Way Miami.
- Supports CEO visibility through speechwriting, media relations, and preparation for interviews and speaking engagements.
- Develop and execute comprehensive marketing and communications strategies to increase community awareness, engagement, and philanthropic support. Oversee the creation and production of materials.
- Oversees the development and digital strategy and tools, including the UWM website, social media, production of advertising, digital storytelling assets, and print collateral.
- Collaborate across the organization, leveraging resources, staff, and volunteers to expand the reach of the brand and donor engagement.
- Oversees development of all messaging and materials for the annual community fundraising campaign, including ePledge online donating and third-party processors’ content.
- Works with the Business Solution team to identify and implement marketing automation tools to effectively develop customer journeys.
- Leads and recruits for the Marketing committee and leverages professional relationships to access local marketing professionals’ expertise for developing effective UWM marketing strategies.
- Cultivates and maintains positive, productive relationships with board members, volunteers, community and business leaders, investors, stakeholders, senior staff, employees, and agencies; matches volunteer talent to service opportunities that will strengthen the relationship and be mutually beneficial.
- Provides collaborative leadership and direction of the organization’s staff and volunteer responses during times of community crisis or disaster; coordinates the organization’s efforts with those of Miami-Dade County Office of Emergency Management (ESF-15) requirements.
Requirements
Education Requirements: Graduate degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field with 10 years of progressive experience, or bachelor’s degree with 12 years of experience.
Experience Requirements: Experience must include a proven track record in marketing and communications disciplines and strategic management. Demonstrated ability to serve as a trusted organizational leader with strong business acumen, collaboration skills, and a service-oriented mindset. Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving organizational alignment through communication and partnership. Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, inspiring messages for donors and community partners. Experience working with senior executives, community leaders, and high-level stakeholders. Non-profit or mission-driven organization experience preferred.
Other Essential Knowledge/Skills: Ability to provide an important strategic perspective; skills to hire quality & committed individuals, management skills, customer service abilities & public speaking. Excellent leadership, collaboration, and development skills.
