Description
We are seeking a versatile Welder / Machinist to join our shop team. This role focuses on precision TIG welding of stainless-steel rotors, process chambers, and various semiconductor tool components, while also supporting manual machining and light CNC work. The ideal candidate will bring strong welding expertise and the flexibility to set up and operate manual mills, lathes, and related fabrication equipment.
This position offers the opportunity to work on both standard production and custom-engineered components, supporting R&D prototypes, unique welded modifications, and critical rework projects. The candidate will collaborate with engineering and shop staff to ensure high-quality, tight tolerance fabrication and assembly.
Responsibilities
- Perform precision TIG welding on stainless steel rotors, chambers, and related semiconductor tool assemblies.
- Fabricate, weld, and rework custom-engineered products and unique modifications.
- Clean, prepare, cut, and grind metals to ensure weld quality.
- Operate manual Bridgeport mills, engine lathes, drill presses, saws, and related fabrication equipment.
- Assist with part machining, light CNC operations, and prototype development.
- Support Poly Shop operations, including assembly, welding, and part fabrication.
- Work from engineering prints and geometric tolerancing specifications.
- Perform rotor balancing, stud welding, and related shop tasks as required.
- Collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
- Follow all shop safety procedures and maintain PPE compliance

- 4+ years of welding experience, with TIG welding proficiency required.
- Strong fabrication background with stainless steel and other metals.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience setting up and operating manual mills and lathes.
- CNC programming and operation knowledge a plus.
- Capable of working independently and handling short-run parts (1–3 pcs).
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in shifting priorities.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal welding program or in-company certification preferred.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
