We are looking for a talented School to Work – Administrative (Student) to join our team specializing in Export Controls for our Cummins Inc. facility in Washington, DC.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Ensure Compliance with Global Regulations: Research international business activities and parties to help identify potential risks and ensure the company complies with export control laws and sanctions.
- Strengthen Risk Management: Analyze transactions and entities to support proactive risk mitigation, helping the team avoid costly violations or reputational damage.
- Enhance Decision-Making with Data: Your data analysis will provide actionable insights that guide strategic decisions related to international operations and partnerships.
- Support Strategic Projects: By assisting with project management efforts, you will help drive key initiatives forward, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and compliance goals are met.
- Improve Operational Efficiency: Your research and analytical contributions will streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve the accuracy of compliance checks.
- Facilitate Cross-Functional Collaboration: You'll act as a bridge between Export Controls and other departments, helping align business activities with regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to Policy Development: Your findings may inform updates to internal policies and procedures, strengthening the company’s overall export control framework.
- Build a Knowledge Base for Future Growth: Through documentation and reporting, you will help create a repository of insights that can be leveraged for training, audits, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities

- Strong Business and Analytical Foundations: A solid grasp of business terminology, data analytics, and project management will help you interpret complex information and contribute meaningfully to strategic initiatives.
- Ability to Learn and Apply Legal Concepts: You'll need to quickly absorb relevant export control regulations and translate them into clear, actionable written deliverables that support compliance efforts.
- Proficiency with Business Tools: Comfort using Microsoft Office, Power BI, and other business software will enable you to analyze data, create reports, and manage projects efficiently.
- Global Collaboration Skills: Success will depend on your ability to work effectively across cultures and time zones, building relationships and communicating clearly with international stakeholders.
- Curiosity and Adaptability: A willingness to learn, ask questions, and adapt to evolving regulations and business needs will help you stay ahead and make a lasting impact.
Education:
- Must be 16 years of age, in high school or post-secondary school.
- No GPA Requirement.
- Must be working towards a bachelor’s degree, at minimum.
Experience:
- Proficient in data analysis, project management, and core business concepts.
- Ability to quickly grasp compliance concepts and produce clear, written deliverables.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office, Power BI, and other business software tools.
- Proven success working across cultures, regions, and time zones.
Qualifications
Additional Information
- Fluency in a relevant foreign language is strongly preferred.
- Availability during morning hours is strongly preferred.
