Are you passionate about the power of data and eager to grow your skills with a global team? We are looking for a motivated entry-level Data Engineer to join our operations team! In this role, you will be at the heart of our data ecosystem, helping us build and maintain high quality data pipelines that fuel analytics, operations, and decision-making across Amway.
You’ll be part of a dynamic, Agile team that works on data-related and platform management tasks with varying levels of complexity. Your day will be collaborative; you will partner with colleagues and stakeholders from around the world, delivering on requests and projects managed through tools like ServiceNow and Jira.
Your core responsibilities will focus on ingesting, transforming, and loading data (ETL) within our Google Cloud Platform (GCP), while also providing support for powerful data platforms like Matillion, Looker Studio, and Tableau. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from senior engineers in a supportive environment and grow your skills across a wide range of technologies. This position is based in Ada, Michigan, with minimal travel required.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- At least one year of experience in a cloud development environment (like GCP, AWS, or Azure), which can include academic projects or internships.
- Experience writing SQL queries.
- Programming experience with languages such as Python or Java.
Skills to Be Successful in the Role:
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL tools (e.g., Matillion, Informatica, Alteryx).
- An understanding of Agile methodologies and related tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Knowledge of CI/CD principles and code repositories like Git.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to collaborate with global teams.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to manage multiple tasks and learn quickly.
What’s special about this team:
The position is on a global operations team with members around the globe, including the United States, Poland, Malaysia and India. They operate in an Agile environment with one-week sprints, holding planning meetings on Tuesdays and check-ins on Thursdays. The team handles hundreds of tickets per month from all over the world. New hires receive training through a combination of documentation in Confluence and significant hands-on, on-the-job experience with guidance from senior team members.
