POSITION TITLE:    Senior Lead, Supply Center Operations

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Lead, Supply Center Operations will oversee the management and support the expansion of a robust centralized managed inventory program and on-campus Supply Center to drive significant value to Scripps Research Principal Investigators and their labs. This essential supply chain role will lead initiatives to optimize sourcing strategies, reduce total costs for lab materials, services, and equipment, and enhance fulfillment efficiency through strong collaboration across departments by collaborating closely with labs and other internal key stakeholders such as Research Operations, Finance, IT, and Compliance, as well as developing and supporting strategic relationships with external vendors and partners.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Support a comprehensive supply chain process and oversee a centralized managed inventory program and on-campus Supply Center. Establish and maintain PAR levels, safety stock levels, reorder points and systems data management.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with other key internal stakeholders to support priorities and maintain and report performance metrics to ensure strategic objectives are achieved.
  • Market Supply Center products and services to labs, build consensus and buy-in among faculty and researchers to ensure strong utilization and adoption of Supply Center services.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and partners to secure and maintain favorable terms, pricing, and service levels.
  • Identify and convey opportunities for streamlining processes, reducing costs, and enhancing efficiencies, including technical and logistical infrastructure improvements and/or implementation of new tools and platforms, to enhance scalability, visibility, transparency, and automation of supply chain operations.
  • Monitor and report market trends, regulatory changes, and geopolitical factors, identify potential risks and vulnerabilities, and support mitigation strategies to ensure supply-chain continuity.
  • Lead a culture of excellence, superior customer service, and continuous learning and improvement within the supply chain team.
  • Lead Supply Center meetings and presentations to communicate updates to teams and the broader campus community as needed.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, life sciences supply chain management, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
    • 3+ years of progressive life sciences supply chain / lab management / supply center, central supply / procurement or related operational experience. Experience with logistics and supply chain processes and procedures / best practices preferably in a biotech, scientific research institute or university setting.
    • Proficiency with modern ERP systems; experience with Workday and/or Jaggaer SciQuest a strong plus
    • Proven success in complex organizational settings, including stakeholder engagement, communication, customer service, and conflict resolution.
    • Ability to understand complex business drivers, develop insights utilizing a data-driven approach, and communicate succinctly to a range of different audiences at all levels of the organization.
    • Flexible and comfortable making decisions using available data points that can be limited and/or imperfect.
    • Strategic mindset coupled with the desire to constantly improve the status quo.
    • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with proven experience in leading cross-collaborative working relationships across an organization.
    • This is an on-campus position requiring 5 days per week working onsite from our La Jolla campus.

                     

                    COMPENSATION: 

                    The expected hiring range for this position is $80,000 to $100,000/annually, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
