The community you’ll be caring for: AdventHealth Apopka
- AdventHealth Apopka is a seven-story, 120-bed hospital offering an extensive range of services including expanded surgical services, advanced surgical suites and a catheterization lab
- The hospital also features a 30,000-square-foot emergency department with pediatric-friendly beds, imaging services, a full-service cafeteria, chapel, gift shop and on-site fire station
- The hospital opened in December 2017, replacing the 50-bed hospital that AdventHealth had operated in downtown Apopka for more than four decades
The role you’ll contribute:
Under general supervision, primary duties include imaging both neuro and body scans on patients from neonate to geriatric, following the age specific guidelines of AdventHealth parameters, transmitting images for diagnostic interpretation, and keeping the hospital computer system up to date with the progress of these exams. The CT technologist actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all, while implementing the principles of Florida Hospital. The tech II position accepts additional duties in the department, such as keeping, counting and recording of statistics, tracking and ordering supplies, performing complicated 3D and CTA workstation studies, overseeing smooth operations of campus locations, performing the more difficult exams, teaching students/new technologists and other tasks as assigned by the department manager.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
- Performs high-quality CT examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.
- Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications.
- Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.
- Positions patients accurately and comfortably, using immobilization devices when necessary, while ensuring radiation safety and ALARA principles are maintained.
- Collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare providers to ensure appropriate imaging and continuity of patient care.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
- Educates patients about the exam and complete all exams in a timely manner, maintaining workflow and minimizing empty table time.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
- Florida State License- general radiographer
- ARRT – R, CT
- Knowledge of CT scanners
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Prior CT experience on GE CT scanners
