Senior Manager Merchandising
Position Summary:
The Senior Manager of Merchandising plays a critical role in shaping and executing the creative direction of upholstery development utilizing our domestic manufacturing facility. This role partners closely with the Vice President of Merchandising to develop and implement comprehensive merchandising strategies and designs that align with company goals and reflect evolving home furniture trends.
By analyzing customer feedback, competitive insights and market data, the Senior Manager ensures product designs address key opportunities, fill strategic gaps and resonate with the target consumer.
This position is accountable for delivering on established merchandising plans, meeting critical deadlines and ensuring all product introductions and presentations align with both business objectives and creative brand vision.
Major Responsibilities:
- Leverage sales analytics to uncover upholstery design opportunities that expand the assortment and accelerate revenue growth.
- Research competitor assortments and emerging trends to inspire fresh product designs and position new launches for success.
- Develop and execute a merchandising calendar to hit deadlines and launch dates.
- Coordinate and help manage operational requirements to take a product from inception to launch, ensuring seamless execution across design, product development and production to hit target dates.
- Cultivate collaborative relationships with internal marketing, sales and buying teams to strengthen assortments and achieve merchandising objectives.
- Build and manage strategic vendor partnerships to achieve merchandising goals and negotiate favorable pricing and agreements.
- Travel to manufacturing facility, High Point furniture markets, Interwoven fabric shows and research trips as needed.
- Manage and develop a direct report
Required Skills & Experience:
- Eight years of experience merchandising in the home furnishings or fabric industry either in manufacturing, design or retail buying.
- Must demonstrate a proven track record of spearheading initiatives and exceeding goals with the ability to collaborate across different departments and colleagues.
- Must have strong creative instincts as well as analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and many timelines effectively.
- Must have strong color instincts and design sensibility in textiles and/or furniture design.
- Must have proven ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex problems independently.
- Must be detail-oriented with proven experience developing and implementing product strategies.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills, and verbal and written communications skills to professionally interact with employees at all levels of the company.
- Must have excellent time management and decision-making skills and be able to prioritize and organize tasks and projects.
- Must have the ability to work alongside and mentor junior members of a team in a manner that enriches the overall team performance.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in related area of merchandising, fashion or home and/or marketing.
