Management Level:
Class 47The MS-WWTO position involves various responsibilities related to wastewater management, including operating and maintaining wastewater analysis laboratories, collection systems, pre-treatment systems, full treatment systems, and other water or wastewater treatment systems. Key activities include:
- Collecting samples for analysis in compliance with EPA, state, and health department regulations.
- Performing chemical analyses both inside and outside the laboratory.
- Adjusting systems based on chemical analysis results.
- Making informed decisions to maintain regulatory compliance.
- Performing mathematical calculations using basic algebra and a calculator.
- Completing computerized reports and monthly reports required by permits, state authorities, EPA, or corporate management.
- Utilizing basic organizational, mechanical, and electrical wiring skills.
- Communicating operational status to upper management.
- Maintaining operations logs.
- Performing maintenance on equipment, ranging from minor to major tasks.
- Operating a spotter truck and/or forklift.
Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Preferably 1+ years of wastewater experience.
- Computer Skills: Basic skills with knowledge of Word and Excel.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Certification: Must complete a storm water training program within thirty days of hire, and Industrial Waste Treatment Volume I and II courses through California State University Sacramento within twelve months. Must obtain the lowest grade certification within twelve months or as per state regulations.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects (50-75 pounds), climb/descend stairs or ladders, perform groundskeeping, painting, general housekeeping, work in unsanitary conditions, handle hazardous chemicals, and maintain HAZ-MAT training.
- Travel: 1 to 2 trips per year.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
- Work Schedule: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Monday - Friday.
