Coastal Health – Now Hiring: Full-Time APRN or PA – Pain Management Clinic
Coastal Health is currently seeking a motivated and compassionate full-time Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our multidisciplinary outpatient Pain Management team. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care under the supervision and collaboration of a physician, managing a broad range of chronic and acute pain conditions.
Position Summary:
The APRN/PA will be responsible for evaluating and treating patients with various pain-related conditions in a clinical setting. This includes performing physical examinations, diagnosing medical conditions, developing treatment plans, prescribing medications, administering injections (including trigger point and joint injections), and assisting with pain management procedures when appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive physical exams and pain assessments

Evaluate and manage chronic and acute pain conditions

Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging

Prescribe medications and recommend therapeutic interventions
-
Administer injections and assist with interventional pain procedures

Collaborate with supervising physicians for complex cases

Provide education to patients and families on pain management strategies and preventive care

Document all patient interactions in the electronic medical record (EMR)

Respond to patient inquiries and manage follow-up care

Participate in emergency response, including CPR if necessary
Qualifications:
-
For APRNs: Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program; current Florida RN license and certification as a Family or Adult Nurse Practitioner (or eligibility)

For PAs: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program; current Florida PA license (or eligibility)

Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of experience in an outpatient setting, preferably in pain management, orthopedics, neurology, or primary care
Preferred Skills & Knowledge:
-
Strong understanding of anatomy, pharmacology, clinical medicine, and pain physiology
-
Experience managing opioid and non-opioid treatment plans
-
Skilled in assessing physical and psychosocial health, and adjusting care plans accordingly

Comfortable with EMR documentation and compliance with healthcare regulations

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians and the care team

Qualifications
Education: MSN required. Successful completion of advanced practitioner training and certification as a practitioner (general or specialized) from an approved nurse practitioner program.
Experience: Minimum three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting, plus two years of nurse practitioner experience preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Current state registered nurse license.
- Current state license as an advanced registered nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority.
- Current CPR certification.
Performance Requirements:
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of advanced practice of nursing including medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and therapeutics, basic nutrition, behavioral factors, psychosocial/family systems, diagnostic testing, interpretation of results and clinical decision making, alternative treatment modalities.
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices and regulations related to evaluating and providing patient care, and professional ethics related to the delivery of nursing care.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments used to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment.
- Knowledge of health promotion, health risk identification, and patient education principles and techniques.
- Knowledge of community, professional, and educational resources.
- Knowledge of practice management systems including electronic health record systems (EHRs).
Skills:
- Skill in oral and written communication; interviewing to gather medical histories; providing presentations, consultations, facilitation, and documentation, e.g., writing medical orders, patient education materials, and medical record updates.
- Skill in case management, time management, problem solving, crisis intervention, multitasking, and other organizational matters.
- Skill in modifying methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide appropriate nursing care and in initiating appropriate emergency response and investigatory procedures.
Abilities:
- Ability to analyze complex data and draw conclusions.
- Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, clinical staff, and the public.
- Ability to competently use Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and appropriate practice management software.
Equipment Operated: Standard medical examination room equipment and instruments. Using computer/health information management system.
Work Environment: Combination of exam rooms and medical offices. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
Physical Requirements: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with a Nurse Practitioner such as standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 10 lbs., occasionally lifts or moves up to 100 lbs. Requires correct vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stress in emergency situations and occasionally may involve irregular working hours.
