Bus Driver Trainee presso Huntington Beach Union High School District

DEFINITION Operates a school bus over designated routes in transporting students; and performs related work as required.

The trainee will participate in class preparing for the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) DMV test and 20 hours of classroom instruction in preparation to test for a school bus driver certificate. The training is scheduled to take place on November 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 2025, and the hours are approximately 7:00 am - 2:00 pm. Trainees will be given one-on-one behind the wheel training. Trainees average 30 to 40 hours to become proficient. The total cost for the trainee is estimated at $300 and which includes the cost for: A physical in order to qualify to take the DMV test for the CDL; DMV’s four tests: Class B and C, Air Brakes, and Passenger School Bus Endorsements; CHP’s interview and background check; CHP's two tests pertaining to the rules, regulations, first aid certificate, practical, and the District background check.
