Summary of the Role
The Research Associate position is an excellent gateway into investment research. The job entails two primary responsibilities, portfolio administration and research. As an associate, responsibility is given to invest and monitor accounts following the direction of the portfolio managers. This responsibility provides exposure to Portfolio Management and an understanding of investment strategy and monitoring. The research responsibility focuses on primary fundamental analysis in support of portfolio managers and senior analysts. Senior Sector Heads. This work includes assignments such as company reviews, financial modeling, and portfolio analysis. This position is a starting point within research, with an emphasis on account administration in the initial stages.
Primary Responsibilities
Invests a group of accounts following the strategy direction of portfolio managers.
Addresses all client requests; including cash flows, tax trades, and guidelines.
Supports Portfolio Management on their strategies via reports, scans, and monitoring.
Completes increasing number and complexity of research assignments and demonstrate a good grasp of basic, fact-based research skills.
Completes company reviews, financial modeling, and portfolio analysis.
Maintains a solid understanding of Calamos products and securities processing; maintains a knowledge of investment models and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required in business, finance or other related area; work towards an MBA or Master’s in Finance preferred.
CFA candidate preferred.
0-2 years of relevant work experience.
High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
Good research skills with the ability to compile and analyze data.
Interest in and a solid knowledge about the markets and the industry.
PC skills in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel with the ability to learn new programs quickly.
