Boise Cascade Company is seeking a motivated and experienced Operations Manager to lead and oversee critical operational functions. This role involves managing a large team of both office and yard employees, driving process efficiency, and ensuring adherence to safety and compliance standards across yard, warehouse, trucking, maintenance, and safety programs.  This position is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Manage, train, and develop a large team of employees, fostering growth, collaboration, and high performance. Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to ensure professional development and operational excellence.
  • Order Fulfillment & Delivery: Oversee distribution processes, product selection, loading, and transportation to ensure timely and accurate delivery. Resolve shipment, delivery, and order backlog issues swiftly and effectively.
  • Transportation Management: Direct transportation operations, including negotiating carrier contracts, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, and managing legal load requirements.
  • Warehouse Operations: Supervise the receipt of products from internal and external suppliers, reconcile purchase orders, maintain inventory control, and optimize storage design. Lead materials-handling personnel to ensure efficient pulling and loading processes.
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe, OSHA-compliant work environment by managing warehouse equipment, vehicles, yard, and grounds. Oversee loss control activities, including fire prevention, theft mitigation, and fleet safety.
  • Continuous Improvement: Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and process improvement while ensuring good housekeeping standards in all work areas.
  • Employee Development: Implement training programs that enhance employee skills and knowledge, ensuring alignment with company standards and operational goals.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support operational excellence.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • College degree or equivalent work experience in a related job function.
  • Strong proficiency in using Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.), warehouse management systems, and fleet management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Performs some duties under seasonal environmental conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in warehouse management or experience in transportation management; building materials experience preferred.
  • Typically more than seven (7) years of experience in a related job function.
  • May require professional certification.
  • Requires knowledge of a specialized field, such as building materials, transportation, warehouse, or management, and industry practices and procedures.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills are essential.
