Cabrini’s Pharmacy Department

Cabrini Health Pharmacy Departments are located at Malvern and Brighton and provide a range of patient-centred pharmacy services to Cabrini patients, including clinical pharmacy, dispensing, procurement, sterile and cytotoxic manufacturing, and clinical trial management.

We advocate the Quality Use of Medications which involved the safe, appropriate, effective, and cost-effective use of medications across the continuum of care.

How you will make an impact

As a Pharmacy Technician at Cabrini, you will join our dedicated team where you will have the opportunity to learn in a supportive environment with on-the-job training provided by our experienced and knowledgeable staff. This role will allow you to build a career in pharmacy and offer the opportunity  to study for a relevant technical certificate e.g. Cert III Health Services / Pharmacy Support down the track. The work hours are rostered across a 7-day work week, but predominantly on weekdays.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing assistance and support to the Pharmacists in the preparation, labelling and dispensing of medications and sterile preparations

• Performing medication expiry date checking and rotation of stock and assisting with inventory management

• Performing ward dispensing and charging based on Omnicell activity reports

• Reconciling scripts owing and assisting with preparation of H.I.C claims, follow up Medicare and concession numbers, assist with PBS online

• Managing drug returns from wards/units

• Receipting, invoicing and crediting of pharmacy stock

• Attending to general cleanliness and tidiness of the department including cleaning, decontaminating sterile cabinets and microbiological testing

What you will bring to the role

Along with enthusiasm to learn, the successful candidate will be highly motivated and have the following:

• Previous pharmacy experience and/or previous experience in a hospital setting advantageous, however, training will be provided

• Sound written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to maintain excellent levels of customer service

• Well developed computer skills

• A positive attitude and great work ethic with a team focus

• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters

• Sound prioritising and organisation skills
