Position Summary

 

The Aircraft Materials General Manager oversees all activities related to the procurement, inventory management, storage, and distribution of aircraft parts, tools  and materials. This role ensures that materials are available to support maintenance operations while maintaining regulatory compliance, cost efficiency, and operational readiness.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Inventory Management:

  • Manage and maintain optimal stock levels of aircraft parts, tools, and consumables.
  • Oversee receiving, inspection, storage, and issuing of materials.
  • Monitor shelf-life items and ensure timely replenishment or disposal.

Procurement and Vendor Management:

  • Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers and repair vendors.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules for aircraft components and materials.
  • Ensure all suppliers meet aviation regulatory and quality standards (FAA, EASA, etc.).

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure all material transactions comply with company policies and aviation regulations.
  • Maintain traceability and certification documentation for all aircraft parts.
  • Support audits and inspections by regulatory authorities.

Coordination and Planning:

  • Collaborate with the DOM, Maintenance Planning, Maintenance Control, and Operations to forecast material needs.
  • Support aircraft AOG (Aircraft on Ground) events by coordinating rapid part sourcing and logistics.
  • Work closely with logistics teams for domestic and international shipping and customs clearance.

Systems and Reporting:

  • Manage data accuracy within inventory management or MRO software systems (e.g., Veryon).
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as inventory turns, stock rates, and vendor performance.
  • Develop cost control and efficiency improvement strategies.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and develop personnel.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

 

Qualifications/Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Aviation Maintenance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in aviation materials management, logistics, or supply chain.
  • Experience in an MRO, airline, or aircraft manufacturing environment preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of FAA/EASA regulations regarding aircraft parts.
  • Proficiency in aviation MRO/Materials software.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of import/export and customs regulations a plus.
