At Franciscan our Patient Care Techs (PCT) In-training are vital to our patient care.
As a trainee you will attend training that include classroom instruction, skills lab, and clinical education.  PCT In-training must complete the course to be promoted to the PCT I position.  Once the trainee has been trained and competencies validated, the trainee can perform tasks as delegated to them. 
 
The PCT In-training performs tasks following the training of the skill while under the observation of a registered nurse (RN) who validates competency. Under the direction of the RN, the PCT In-training performs delegated patient care activities in a manner that is aligned with the age specific needs of the patient to ensure safe, accurate, and high-quality care. PCT In-training is an entry level position whose job functions include but are not limited to providing for a patient's activities of daily living (ADLs); limited screening, collection, and recording of data and information; maintenance of unit supplies and equipment; patient transporting; answering call-lights, telephone, and Vocera.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  •  Provide bathing, oral care, grooming (shaving), urinary catheter and ostomy care.
  • Assist with meals and feeding; with positioning, ambulation, and mobilization; and with elimination and toileting. 
  • Monitor vital signs, intake & output, weights, specimen collection.           
  • Restock patient room and unit supplies
  • Perform equipment checks. 
  • Transport patients by wheelchair, cart, bed, bassinet
  • Answer patient call-lights, telephones, Vocera.  
  • Communicate and report patient data and information to the RN.


Qualifications

  • Preferred High School Diploma/GED
  • Prior experience working in any role in a healthcare organization. Preferred
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
