Job Goal: Under the supervision of the school administrator, Long-term Substitute Teachers are responsible for supporting and assisting in the delivery of effective, high-quality, rigorous instruction in various content areas while following the district curriculum to assist in producing positive, measurable results and student understanding. Long-term Substitute Teachers collaborate with certified teachers for guidance in the planning of lessons and interventions. Substitute teachers are responsible for observing and evaluating the academic performance of students, and social-emotional needs and participate in Professional Development Learning. |
Job Qualifications: - Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred (any concentration).
- Experience in collaborating with peers in a professional work or school environment.

Essential Functions Duties Responsibilities 1.Teaches skills in vocal music, music literacy, appreciation, harmony, and choral singing appropriate to elementary learners. 2.Plans and implements a balanced general music curriculum using the Hal Leonard Essential Elements programas a core resource, supplemented with other developmentally appropriate repertoire and materials. 3.Provides whole-class, small-group, and individual instruction to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students. 4.Encourages and develops each student’s singing voice, listening skills, movement, and overall musicianship to the greatest extent possible. 5.Directs and rehearses elementary choirs, preparing students for performances that reflect a wide range of musical literature, both traditional and contemporary. 6.Maintains responsibility for school-owned instruments, sound equipment, sheet music, and instructional materials, ensuring care and requesting repairs when needed. 7.Evaluates each student’s musical growth, vocal development, and participation, assessing both individual progress and contributions to ensemble performance. 8.Selects and requisitions appropriate music, to enhance student learning experiences. 9.Collaborates with the principal and colleagues in providing musical programming for school assemblies, concerts, community events, and seasonal programs. 10.Establishes and maintains classroom expectations that promote a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment. 11.Communicates regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and performance opportunities. 12.This position may include planning, participation, and oversight of students during music rehearsals for concerts as well as during scheduled concerts. 13.Performs other duties as assigned by the principal. |
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, use hands to the finger(s), handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, use fingers to type and/or write; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance, and color vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 20 pounds. If lifting in excess of this weight is necessary, the assistance of a second person is required. The physical demands of this position will also include the ability of the individual to perform all of the essential functions and related responsibilities of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. |
