Hotel Anthracite, a modern boutique hotel located in the heart of Carbondale, PA, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join our team at Settlers Hospitality. The AGM will play a critical role in supporting the General Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and maintaining the highest standards of service and hospitality. This position requires a hands-on leader with a passion for excellence, strong organizational skills, and the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team.

Key Responsibilities:


Operational Leadership:

  • Assist the General Manager in managing all aspects of hotel operations, including front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage, and maintenance to ensure high service standards and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure smooth day-to-day operations and address any operational challenges promptly.
  • Monitor and maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and service throughout the property.
  • Act as Manager on Duty when required.

Guest Experience:

  • Foster a culture of exceptional guest service by leading by example and training staff to exceed guest expectations.
  • Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a professional and timely manner.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction scores and implement strategies to improve them.
  • Address and resolve guest concerns with professionalism and a solutions-oriented approach.

Event Sales & Coordination

  • Support event inquiries including weddings, corporate meetings, social gatherings, and private parties.
  • Conduct site tours, prepare customized event proposals and contracts, and follow up to convert leads into confirmed bookings. 
  • Plan and manage events from start to finish, coordinating all details with clients and internal teams.
  • Act as the on-site contact during events to ensure seamless execution and guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain event documentation, track billing, and provide post-event follow-up to gather feedback and promote repeat business.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and marketing team to develop event packages and seasonal offerings.

Room Packages & Promotions

  • Create and manage room packages in collaboration with the General Manager and marketing team to increase occupancy and revenue.
  • Analyze performance and adjust offerings based on market trends and guest feedback.

Marketing & Branding Support

  • Assist in creating marketing materials for promotions, packages, events, and special offers. 
  • Maintain hotel branding consistency across communications, social media, and in-house materials.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to promote the hotel and its amenities.
  • Assist in planning and executing events, meetings, and conferences held at the property.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local businesses and community organizations.

Restaurant Collaboration – Kol Grill

  • Support the operations and coordination between the hotel and Kol Grill, ensuring a seamless guest experience for room and dining packages.
  • Work with restaurant management to align guest service standards and event execution.

Administration & Team Management

  • Schedule staff across departments and manage time-off requests to ensure proper coverage.
  • Process and manage employee payroll, accurately tracking hours and ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Support the recruitment, training, and supervision of team members to uphold service quality and workplace morale.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new team members.
  • Manage scheduling and timecards. 
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including health and safety standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure the property is well-maintained and meets brand standards.
  • Oversee emergency procedures and staff training to ensure guest and employee safety.

Hotel Anthracite is a modern boutique hotel offering 61 well-appointed guest rooms, a full-service restaurant (Kol Grill), and versatile event spaces, including Gravity Hall, which accommodates up to 350 guests. Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in hotel management or a similar leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of hotel operations, including front office, housekeeping, and food and beverage.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in hotel management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
