Reporting to the Manager, Quasi-Judicial Boards, the Administrator, Quasi-Judicial Services is responsible for providing administrative services to the Coroner’s Office, the Rental Office, the Labour Standards Office, the Labour Standards Board, and the Nunavut Criminal Code Review Board. The position supports day-to-day operations by coordinating communications, maintaining filing systems, and assisting with the planning and delivery of meetings, hearings, and related activities. The Administrator also serves as the first point of contact for members of the public, legal professionals, government staff, and others, ensuring information is managed accurately and professionally. 

Responsibilities

The Administrator, Quasi-Judicial Services provides administrative and financial support including maintaining confidential files and databases, responding to phone and email inquiries, organizing meetings and hearings, preparing agendas and minutes, booking venues and travel, arranging interpretation and translation services, verifying invoices, and monitoring office supplies and equipment. For the Coroner’s Office, duties include but are not limited to maintaining statistics, preparing reports, and arranging inquests. For the Rental Office, tasks include receiving applications, opening files, scheduling hearings, and coordinating logistics. The position also acts as Deputy Labour Standards Officer, providing information about the Labour Standards Act, investigating complaints, and processing various applications. The Administrator supports the Labour Standards Board and the Nunavut Criminal Code Review Board by maintaining communication with stakeholders, arranging logistics, managing financial documentation, and maintaining records of expenses. The incumbent must have knowledge of government financial and administrative procedures and practices, including the Administrative Records Classification System, as well as the Criminal Code of Canada, the Coroner's Act, the Residential Tenancies Act and the Labour Standards Act.

Qualifications

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a grade 12 education and three (3) years' experience in performing administrative functions.

This is a Position of Trust and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
