The Role

Outlines and implements industry-specific underwriting policies, guidelines and regulations, facilitating underwriting activities and programmes that are of high standard and compliant to Canopius’ governance.

Key Responsibilities

• Outlines the creation and revision of underwriting guidelines, policies and frameworks for insurance products across a range of risk sizes for a specific industry.
• Acts as a technical expert with the assigned insurance industry and provides advice on products, services, priorities and target markets to more effectively enable clients to uncover hidden risks.
• Advocates Canopius’ expertise by participating in industry conferences and events while regularly conducting and taking on leadership roles in client and broker meetings to educate on risk.
• Implements new product development opportunities, and explores collaboration opportunities across markets.
• Assesses and conducts complex risk analytics to enhance understanding of the accounts portfolio, including knowledge of cross-market penetration and specific plans to increase Canopius’ share.
• Plans and organises the annual underwriting audit schedules and action plans, with time and budget considerations.
• Coordinates industry-specific insurance and risk training to provide guidance to underwriting staff and maintains documentation of risk management standard operating procedures.
