Position Overview
The Warehouse Forklift Operator is responsible for operating a sit-down forklift to load, unload, transport, and stack pallets and materials. This role is critical for maintaining efficient warehouse operations and ensuring safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklifts to maneuver, lift, and place pallets and materials.
- Efficiently load and unload trucks with various types of shipments, ensuring accuracy and speed.
- Follow designated stacking procedures to optimize warehouse space and ensure the safe storage of materials.
- Conduct pre-shift forklift inspections to identify potential safety hazards, record findings, and report maintenance needs.
- Accurately track inventory movement and locations using the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and handheld scanners.
- Support order fulfillment and pick-and-pack services by accurately selecting, packing, and staging items.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, performing daily housekeeping tasks to ensure a safe, efficient, and orderly environment.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth daily operations and efficient workflow.
- Apply proper blocking and bracing techniques to secure loads and prevent shifting during transit.
- Perform manual labor tasks (e.g., lumping) as needed for loading or unloading shipments.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and OSHA standards, including forklift safety and maintenance checks.
- Provide support with inventory management, including stock rotation, cycle counting, and maintaining accurate records.
Qualifications
- Certification in forklift operation (OSHA preferred) is essential for safely handling high volumes of loading and unloading.
- Precision in fulfilling orders is critical, especially when handling customer-specific requirements, as accuracy directly impacts customer satisfaction.
- The role requires physical endurance, including lifting up to 75 lbs and extended periods of standing, walking, and bending.
- Experience with handheld scanners and WMS technology for efficient order processing, inventory management, and data accuracy.
- Adherence to safety protocols is crucial, along with a collaborative approach to supporting team safety and productivity.
- Must have reliable transportation to be able to travel between sites as needed.
