Controller
Location: Hybrid – Based near one of our operating markets
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Travel: 2 weeks of initial training in St. Louis, MO during the first 2 months, plus quarterly travel for meetings and continued training

The Opportunity
We’re seeking a Controller to lead and oversee all accounting operations within our expanding organization. This position plays a key leadership role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all properties. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will partner with senior leadership to drive performance through sound financial strategy, reporting, and internal controls.
The successful candidate will complete two weeks of training in St. Louis during the first two months of employment, followed by quarterly travel for continued development and leadership meetings.
What You’ll Do
Manage daily accounting operations including general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP
Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
Partner with the CFO and CEO on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
Review property-level and consolidated financial statements
Maintain intercompany reconciliations and members’ equity schedules
Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors for audits and filings
Train and mentor accounting staff on standards, systems, and compliance
Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies
Support ad hoc financial analyses and special projects
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role
Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and property management accounting
Proven experience managing full-cycle accounting operations
High attention to detail, organization, and accuracy
Excellent leadership and analytical skills
Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel; experience with ADP, QuickBooks, or property management software a plus
