Our global network of laboratories offers internationally standardized next generation molecular and flow cytometry panels to support drug development and accelerate drug approvals worldwide. We work with pharmaceutical partners and international regulatory agencies across the globe to develop companion diagnostics, which are necessary to gain approval of new drugs and treatments for cancer patients. Our harmonized ISO15189 accredited and CLIA/CAP clinical laboratories offer a test menu focused on biomarkers which are clinically actionable to support therapeutic decisions, measurable residual disease (MRD) testing, patient stratification, and trial enrollment, all designed to accelerate approvals of new oncology drugs and treatments.

We are looking to add a Business Development Director in San Diego, CA.   The Business Development Director will be responsible for expanding Invivoscribe’s global partnerships across pharma, biotech, and diagnostics, driving strategic alliances that accelerate the adoption of our assays, services, and emerging offerings in next-generation sequencing (NGS), whole genome sequencing (WGS), and measurable residual disease (MRD) testing.  S/he will serve as a key commercial leader - identifying, shaping, and closing high-value opportunities that advance Invivoscribe’s mission and market leadership in precision medicine.

 Core Responsibilities Include:  

 Strategic Partnership Development

  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities across biotech, pharma, and life sciences sectors.
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow partnerships with key stakeholders, including pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, and research organizations.
  • Ensure partnerships strengthen Invivoscribe’s differentiation, competitiveness, and market leadership.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified leads and opportunities, converting them into long-term revenue-generating relationships.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams — including R&D, Regulatory, Marketing, and Laboratory Operations — to ensure alignment between business development initiatives and company capabilities.

Negotiation and Deal Execution

  • Lead negotiations for fee-for-service, custom development, licensing, and strategic collaboration agreements.
  • Take the lead in high-stakes negotiations and alliance management, ensuring win–win outcomes and strong partnership governance.
  • Manage the full business development cycle, from lead generation and proposal development to contract closure and implementation.

Market and Competitive Insight

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and partnership opportunities.
  • Develop data-driven business cases and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Lead the strategy and positioning for Invivoscribe’s WGS and next-generation MRD offerings, ensuring they are differentiated and positioned ahead of competitors.

Commercial and Scientific Growth

  • Expand partnerships in companion diagnostics (CDx) and clinical services to drive growth and innovation.
  • Accelerate adoption of Invivoscribe assays into international cancer care guidelines and pathways.
  • Build collaborations with global KOLs that strengthen scientific credibility and commercial traction.
  • Act as a thought leader in biotech commercial strategy, representing Invivoscribe internally and externally at industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings.

Performance and Impact

  • Drive revenue targets and partnership outcomes that align with Invivoscribe’s strategic objectives.
  • Deliver measurable growth through a robust and sustainable business development pipeline.
  • Provide regular reporting, forecasting, and insights on partnership performance and market opportunities.

You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Business, or other related field of study and, typically, 10+ years of business development experience in biotech, pharma, or life sciences, with a strong track record of closing deals and building partnerships.  Advanced degree is advantageous.  Equivalent combination of academics and experience will be considered.
  • Networked with strong relationships in pharma, biotech and/or diagnostics to accelerate partnerships.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex deal structures; companion diagnostics, licensing, collaborations.  
  • Solid understanding of drug development, molecular diagnostics, or biotechnology platforms.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new software programs.  Able to utilize collaboration tools such as MS Teams, Webex, zoom and other virtual platforms.
