About BDO
At BDO Australia, our why is ‘empowering people, realising possibilities’. One way we bring this to life is by hiring and developing exceptional talent, to deliver on our wide array of audit, tax and advisory services.
About the Role
Join our ESG, Strategy & Transformation team as a Graduate Sustainability Consultant in January 2026, where you’ll help clients turn ambition into action. Our ESG team in Sydney is growing, and we’re looking for a graduate who’s passionate about sustainability and eager to make a real difference.
As a Consulting Graduate in the ESG team at BDO, you can expect to:
Help develop and deliver sustainability (ESG) projects – including researching market trends, comparing companies, identifying key focus areas, setting goals, and creating action plans.
Assist with supporting clients to get ready for sustainability reporting and new climate-related requirements, and help them understand and manage their climate risks.
Contribute to client workshops and presentations, helping to communicate insights and recommendations clearly and confidently.
In addition to ESG projects, you’ll also have the opportunity to collaborate on wider Strategy & Transformation projects – helping clients improve how their businesses operate, make strategic decisions, manage change, and drive innovation across areas such as operations, people, technology, and performance improvement.
Learn core consulting skills such as project planning, research, communication, and working with different stakeholders.
What we’re looking for
We’re not expecting you to be an expert yet – we’ll help you get there. What matters most is your curiosity, critical thinking skills and desire to learn. You’ll thrive in this role if you:
Are passionate about sustainability and want to contribute to a more sustainable future.
Have a strong work ethic and enjoy working in a collaborative, people-focused environment.
Are studying or have recently completed a degree in sustainability, business, law, economics, environmental science, or another related field that develops strong analytical and communication skills.
Have excellent research, problem-solving, critical thinking and communication skills, with an eye for detail.
Feel comfortable working with data and using tools like Excel or PowerPoint to communicate ideas – or have a strong desire to learn and build these skills.
Are proactive, organised, and willing to take initiative in a fast-paced, supportive environment.
What you’ll get
12-month learning and development program
Support and guidance from your buddy and manager
Service line specific learning and development, aligned to clear career pathways
Social activities with your early careers’ cohort, and the wider firm
Benefits including free breakfast, healthy snacks and dress for your day
A culture of opportunity, connection, community, and impact
Global possibilities, we’re in 166 countries.
