The full-time starting salary is normally £44,131.00 per annum, with progression available in post to £51,182.00 per annum.

The Directorate of Student and Academic Services (SAAS) leads on the development and provision of outstanding student facing services. The Directorate is responsible for ensuring that students have an excellent experience and provides services across the student and academic lifecycle from enrolment to graduation, covering everything from wellbeing services to ensuring new courses are set up correctly. The Directorate is at the centre of a transformation programme as we seek to make services which underpin our student experience more efficient and effective.
An opportunity has arisen for an Apprenticeship Assessment Manager to manage the day-to-day operations for both integrated and external Apprenticeship Assessments, and lead on the changes required for the revised Apprenticeship Assessments Plans.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day operational demands for the Apprenticeship Assessment process, for both integrated and external Apprenticeship Assessments, that comes with the delivery of high-quality apprenticeship programmes and excellent customer service both internally and externally, organising and prioritising workloads within required timelines. The Apprenticeship Assessment Manager will oversee the delivery and quality assurance of Apprenticeship Assessment activities across the university’s apprenticeship provision. They will ensure Apprenticeship Assessment processes meet regulatory requirements, support assessors and apprentices through the assessment journey, and work closely with other stakeholders to maintain high standards and timely delivery.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the planning, scheduling and day to day delivery of timely Apprenticeship Assessment activities across all apprenticeship programmes.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and funding body requirements for Apprenticeship Assessment delivery.
- Leading on the development of BCU-AAO assessments, ensuring regulatory and assessment plan requirements are met.
- Ensuring Gateway checks are robust and completed.
- Developing and maintaining policies, processes and documentation for Apprenticeship Assessments to support apprentices, employers and colleagues across the University.
- Working with apprentice teams to ensure accurate recording and reporting of Apprenticeship Assessment outcomes.
The Apprenticeship Assessment Manager will have:
- Experience managing Apprenticeship Assessment or equivalent assessment processes.
- Good organisational and planning skills, with attention to detail.
- Comprehensive and up to date knowledge of Apprenticeship Standards and Apprenticeship Assessment Plans.
- Technical knowledge and understanding of the complexities of Apprenticeship Assessments Delivery and Quality Assurance.
- Experience producing reports and managing compliance documentation.
- Experience of leading and managing a high performing team.

The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University. Appointees with prior LGPS membership who wish to enter the LGPS scheme will be able to do so and will be employed by Birmingham City University directly.
