College Intern - Structural Engineering presso Cleaver-Brooks

Essential Duties:

1. Possess some structural engineering knowledge, material properties and particularly structural steel frame design, plate or steel stack design.
2. Position requires the constant and consistent exercise of intellect, judgment, and ability commensurate with intern positions in similar industries or situations.
3. Position requires regular exercise of problem solving skills.
4. Ability to handle responsibilities with effective interpersonal skills and to effectively interface with others inside and outside the Company is required.
5. Must have strong communication skills and some background in basic engineering design.
6. Will assist in performing detailed or routine engineering assignments such as assisting with the definition of technical specifications, basic design problem resolution, providing product support and assistance to other internal departments.
7. Refers problems and/or questions to engineering management or senior engineers.
8. Position may require extended periods of operating a personal computer as a normal part of job duties.
9. Position required ability to work in a normal office environment and may require occasional/regular exposure to production plant environment with welding, machine and fabrication operations.
10. All other duties as assigned.

Experience:  Basic knowledge in Structural engineering calculations; ability to use Microsoft software; ACAD, Inventor, Exposure to STAAD Pro helpful.

Physical Skill and Effort: Work requires a few simple but rapid hand operations, with simple and easy muscular movements. May access all parts of the boiler to examine boiler design in production, including climbing ladders, enter confined spaces and use proper PPE, including harnesses when over 6 feet off the ground.

Working Conditions and Hazards: Normal plant, shop, field or office conditions. From time to time, slightly disagreeable features.  Negligible/little or no exposure.

Education: Civil Engineering student preferred, who has preferably completed their sophomore year of college.

Salary: We offer a competitive hourly pay rate and flexible hours that will work with a college schedule; part time hours may range from 10 to 40 hours per week.
