Group Experience Specialist presso Schiele Museum of Natural History

The part-time Group Experience Specialist will work two critical functions within our organization: Group Experiences and Youth Program teams.

Job Responsibilities

This role will work with our Group Experiences in the morning, assisting with our field trip groups by:

• creating a positive and inviting atmosphere for field trip students, teachers, and chaperones
• assisting groups with their schedules and directing them to destinations around the museum
• assisting groups with materials such as lunch coolers, scavenger hunts, end of visit survey, and more.

During the afternoon, this role will transition to our Youth Programs and assist our KidsQuest Afterschool Enrichment program by:

• creating a positive atmosphere for our 30+ afterschool students
• guiding activities and crafts with the students
• assisting students with homework completion
• showing patience and compassion while also upholding the behavior expectations and standards within the program

Ideal Candidate Skills and Qualifications

• Passion for working with children
• Have previous experience working with children in a childcare capacity
• Able to work in fast paced, changing circumstances
• Excellent communication skills
• Attention to detail is critical
• Ability to always interact in a positive and professional manner
• Dependability, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
• Willingness to learn new skills and share knowledge with others
• Be able to use basic technology with ease including but not limited to emails, Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive products, Canva, and more.

Required Qualifications

• Valid NC Driver’s License with a clean driving record
• Must be available Monday - Friday generally between the hours of 9AM - 5PM, some occasional weekend and evening work required
• 18 years of age or older
• Be able to drive a 15 passenger van
• Be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
