About Monet Bank
Monet Bank is pioneering the future of banking and money movement—faster, cheaper, and crypto-native. The passage of the Genius Act has enabled a future we want to explore where interchange fees and inefficient payment rails may be replaced with a modern, programmable alternative powered by stablecoins.
At our core, we believe Monet Bank is the essential bridge between crypto and traditional finance (TradFi).
As a profitable, well-capitalized Texas state, FDIC-insured bank, Monet sees the fundamental inefficiency of the 2-3% card network payments and seeks to build a strong team to understand and pursue the future of money and banking.
See our open positions below if you want to work on the new frontier of banking projects like a stablecoin-based payment that would empower merchants to reclaim margins, Fintechs to operate cross-border at scale, and tech giants to embed crypto into their platforms without friction.
Summary:
We are seeking a Senior/Principal Cloud Architect for an on-site position in Plano, Texas, at a leading financial technology organization. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the design, execution, and oversight of the company's cloud infrastructure with a strong emphasis on Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will act as a technical team leader (without direct managerial reports), guiding cloud initiatives to meet business goals and strict security/compliance standards typical of the banking industry. The ideal candidate will combine deep cloud expertise with exceptional leadership and collaboration skills to drive innovation across cross-functional teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Architect and Implement Cloud Solutions: Design scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud architectures on AWS to meet enterprise requirements. This includes selecting appropriate services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, etc.) and crafting solutions that align with business and regulatory needs in banking.
- Cloud Migration & Modernization: Lead cloud migration projects and infrastructure modernization efforts, leveraging tools like Databricks for data analytics and Cloudflare for network optimization and security. Develop strategies for moving legacy systems to the cloud with minimal disruption.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, DevOps, security, and product teams to integrate cloud solutions with existing systems. Ensure seamless adoption of cloud services (such as integrating identity management via Okta and establishing single sign-on across platforms) across various departments.
- Security and Compliance: Develop and enforce network and cloud security measures (firewalls, IAM policies, encryption standards, etc.) in line with industry regulations. Collaborate with IT security and risk teams to ensure the cloud architecture meets compliance standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, SOC 2) and implement Cloudflare or similar tools to safeguard traffic at the edge.
- Infrastructure as Code & Automation: Implement Infrastructure-as-Code using tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation to automate provisioning and configuration. Establish CI/CD pipelines and use configuration management (Ansible, Chef, or Puppet) to enable consistent, repeatable deployments across environments.
- Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor cloud system performance, availability, and cost efficiency. Utilize AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, or other tools to analyze resource utilization and ensure the architecture is optimized for capacity and cost. Proactively plan for scaling and capacity needs, and refine architectures for efficiency.
- Disaster Recovery & Documentation: Develop robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans for cloud systems, including backup strategies and multi-region failover designs. Maintain thorough documentation of cloud architecture, network diagrams, data flows, and operational procedures for reference and audit purposes.
- Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical leadership to engineering teams, guiding them in best practices for cloud development and operations. Mentor junior cloud engineers and developers, reviewing designs and code to ensure alignment with architecture standards. Lead by influence, coordinating efforts without direct managerial authority.
- Emerging Technology & Vendor Management: Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and evaluate their potential benefit. Research and recommend new tools or services (for example, assessing new AWS services, Databricks features, or security solutions) to continuously improve our cloud ecosystem. Liaise with vendors and service providers (e.g., AWS, Okta, Cloudflare) to manage service integrations, contracts, and resolve any advanced technical issues.
Qualifications (Education, Computer Skills, Certifications, etc.):
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required. A minimum of 8-10 years of IT experience (with at least 5 years in cloud architecture or infrastructure roles) is expected. Demonstrated experience designing and deploying solutions on AWS is essential.
- Cloud Platform Expertise: Deep knowledge of AWS services and architecture (compute, storage, networking, databases, etc.) and practical experience building solutions at scale. Familiarity with hybrid or multi-cloud environments (Azure or GCP) is a plus, though AWS is the primary focus.
- Tools & Technologies: Hands-on proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation for provisioning. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, AWS CodePipeline) for cloud deployments. Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and of Databricks or Apache Spark for data processing in the cloud.
- Security & Networking: Strong understanding of network design and security architecture in cloud environments, including VPC design, VPN/Direct Connect, firewalls, and identity/access management. Experience implementing SSO/identity solutions (e.g., Okta or AWS IAM/Cognito) and using CDN or security services like Cloudflare to protect and accelerate applications is required.
- Leadership & Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and effectively communicate complex cloud concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor team members in a matrixed environment, exemplifying strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skills in complex cloud ecosystems. Ability to navigate and adapt to a fast-paced, highly regulated environment – balancing innovation with compliance and reliability.
If you are looking to be a part of a winning team and meet the above requirements, we look forward to hearing from you.
