The Commercial Banker I position is included in a workplace model that allows for a combination of in-office and remote work.
As a Commercial Banker I, essential responsibilities include:
- Practices and lives the Banks Sales & Customer Service Culture every day.
- Maintain client and prospect database to market and originate credit, deposit and corporate services, and generate referrals.
- Analyzes requests to determine credit risk, compliance with policies, product parameters and requirements while maintaining legal and regulatory compliance.
- Recommends bank approval or declination of credit requests to appropriate approval teams.
- Participates in bank promotions. Cross sells products and services by identifying opportunities for products and services offered by the entire organization.
- Maintains and develops internal and external relationships and Centers of Influence for referrals.
- Facilitates introductions to STAR teammates to provide delivery of personal banking products and services to business owners, managers and Centers of Influence within assigned relationship base.
- Actively engage in the community representing STAR at events along with individual non-profit board or committee participation.
- May be required to provide functional guidance to support staff.
- Compiles and maintains required files, records and reports.
- Effectively communicates with prospects and clients on requests and relationship updates which will continually develop and maintain strong relationships with businesses and their leadership at appropriate levels, ultimately earning the status of trusted advisor.
- Provides constructive, consultative, feedback and makes recommendations as a trusted advisor to clients and prospects.
- Ensures regular follow-up with underwriting/credit to monitor status of requests and communicate with customer.
- Performs and serves as Loan, Deposit and Service closing agent for the Bank.
- Addresses and communicates problems or situations of average difficulty relating to work and which requires explanation to customers, employees and management.
- Maintains and monitors loan collateral and credit risk inherent within assigned relationships.
- Maintains knowledge of and compliance with established lending, deposit and service procedures and policies.
- Maintains knowledge of products offered and has a comprehensive understanding of the benefits and solutions provided by each product.
- Reports suspicious activity to proper internal authorities.
