Position Summary
Crossland Construction is seeking a dynamic and relationship-driven Director of Economic and Community Development to spearhead growth initiatives and represent Crossland as a trusted partner across North Texas. This new role will focus on cultivating municipal and private sector opportunities, strengthening long-term client relationships, and positioning Crossland as the builder of choice in the region.
The Director will serve as the “face of Crossland” in the community, attending municipal and industry meetings, developing business intelligence on upcoming projects, and ensuring Crossland is engaged early in the planning process. This individual will work closely with our Preconstruction and Operations teams to translate relationships into successful projects, while ensuring our brand and values are consistently represented.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Market Growth
- Develop and execute a comprehensive Business and Marketing Opportunity Strategy focused on municipal and community projects in growing communities within the company's north Texas service area. Emphasis should be placed on Collin, Denton and Grayson counties but not limited to them.
- Proactively identify upcoming municipal and community projects by attending
and monitoring Planning & Zoning, City Council, and Bond Committee meetings when necessary. Review and have access to information regarding present, future and upcoming bond issuances which may lead to opportunities..
- Build and maintain relationships with City Managers, Public Works Directors,
Fire/Police Chiefs, School District leaders, and Economic Development officials.
- Support the pursuit of Bond Programs by tracking timelines, community
discussions, and election results that may lead to new opportunities.
- Marketing opportunities/function attendance to be approved by President of the Texas Region
Client & Community Engagement
- Serve as a primary relationship manager for key municipal clients; coordinate and attend regular check-ins, update meetings, and OAC sessions when needed.
- Represent Crossland at industry associations (TML, TASBO, TASB, AIA, AGC,
TREC, ULI, etc.), regional chambers of commerce, and local networking
organizations.
- Actively promote Crossland’s values and commitment to community service and long-term partnerships. Collaboration with Internal Teams

- Partner with Preconstruction and Marketing to ensure early project intelligence is
shared, proposals are client-specific, and presentations reflect owner priorities.
- Assist in reviewing RFP/RFQ requirements, crafting pursuit strategies, and
preparing interview presentations.
- Provide operational insights from client relationships that impact scheduling,
Phasing, and delivery strategies.
- Coordinate with preconstruction and operations to ensure that opportunities
pursued align with Crossland’s capacity and strategic goals.
Leadership & Accountability
- Track all leads, pursuits, and relationships and provide regular pipeline updates to leadership.
- Mentor and support Project Managers and Superintendents in client relations best practices (jobsite tours, OAC participation, professional presentation).
- Uphold and promote Crossland’s reputation for trust, integrity, responsibility, and passion in every client interaction.
- Work with Crossland leadership to effectively define a process and strategy to attract business opportunities for the company which will include development trends, data collection, market adjustments, investment changes and economic forecasts for growth within Crossland’s operational area. This information may result in possible new areas for expansion or consideration of involvement.
- Provide a monthly activity report which includes contacts made, events/meetings
attended, changes to marketing strategies, and possible upcoming opportunities.
Performance Metrics
- Number of new municipal and private clients contacted annually.
- Strength of client relationships and repeat business.
- Engagement with community/industry organizations.
- Timely and accurate reporting of pipeline and market intelligence.
- Contribution to the growth of the Texas Division and alignment with Crossland’s
- core values.
