Mental health professionals in a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) have a range of responsibilities that are crucial for the well-being of clients.
Here are some of the key duties they typically perform:
- Individual and Group Therapy: Provide therapy sessions to patients, either individually or in groups, to address their mental health needs.
- Patient Assessments: Conduct assessments to evaluate patients' mental health status and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Treatment Plan Development: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create and monitor individualized treatment plans.
- Coordination of Care: Work with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of patient interactions, assessments, and treatment progress.
- Team Collaboration: Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to share insights and improve patient care.
- Client Education: Educate patients and their families about mental health resources and treatment options.
- Clinicians in day treatment programs are usually responsible for maintaining a caseload of clients with whom they work on a daily basis. They may work on an interdisciplinary team within a center consisting of other mental health professionals such as psychiatrists or psychologists to lead educational or supportive groups, provide individual counseling, assist clients with developing practical skills needed for employment or independent living, and consult with outside professionals or organizations, such as social services. They are also usually responsible for filling out treatment plans, counseling notes and maintaining accurate case files as well as participating in regular supervisory sessions.
Additional Duties:
1. The Mental Health Professional will act as a community liaison for their participants.
2. Maintains client confidentiality at all times and ensures that other staff maintains
confidentiality as well.
3. The Mental Health Professional will complete Mental Health Assessments to determine
eligibility of students for the program.
4. The Mental Health Professional will complete all assigned paperwork to ensure
compliance with regulatory requirements
5. The Mental Health Professional will conduct individual, family, and group therapy
sessions and act as a mentor to the Mental Health Worker.
6. The Mental Health Professional will conduct/lead interagency team meetings to develop
plans for enrolled students.
7. The Mental Health Professional will complete documentation weekly to ensure timely
billing of services.
8. Demonstrates appropriate professional and interpersonal skills with staff, clients,
families, and other professionals.
9. Attends mandatory supervision meetings as scheduled with the Program Dir.ctors.
participates in operational planning meetings as scheduled. Conduct regular staff
meetings/supervision with staff.
10. Responsible for ensuring the safety of clients in the program and the site in which the
clients are being served, organizational crises management.
11. The Mental Health Professional will attend general staff meetings as scheduled.
12. Participates in on-going in-service training programs to assure professional growth and
potential.
13. Attendance and participation in Children/Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program
clinical staff meetings.
14. Coordination of outcome measures of Children/Adolescent Partial Hospitalization
Programs.
15. Public relations for Bradford and Sullivan Counties.
16. Interact with school officials.
17. The Mental Health Professional will be proficient in their job position within six (6)
months.
