The Facilities Technician will be a key part of our team at Perkins Rowe, Baton Rouge’s premier mixed-use lifestyle destination. Overview

The Facilities Technician is responsible for the performance of repairs and maintenance of common areas and company-owned facilities within the property. This hands-on role plays a vital part in maintaining the property's aesthetic and operational standards while supporting property events. A core focus includes performing a wide range of light-to-moderate maintenance tasks, assisting with vendor coordination, and supporting property safety initiatives.

  

Job Type & Schedule

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The standard work week is 40 hours, with a schedule that may require overtime and availability to participate in an after-hours on-call, rotating schedule as needed to support property operations and emergency repairs.

  

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will be assigned by the Facilities Manager and encompass technical maintenance, operational support, and vendor coordination.

Property Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform light construction duties, including tile repair and replacement, and painting.
  • Execute light electrical work, including bulb replacement, switch replacement, and plug replacement.
  • Perform light plumbing duties, including clearing clogged lines and replacing flushing hardware in toilets.
  • Perform roof cleaning and maintenance as directed.
  • Conduct parking lot sign repair and replacement.
  • Assist in identifying and minimizing overall property safety and liability issues.

Operational Support & Coordination

  • Provide oversight and coordination of third-party vendors contracted to work on the property when assigned.
  • Assist with all property events and marketing set-up and tear downs.
  • Take delivery of supply orders and pick up supplies as directed by the Facilities Manager.
  • Perform all other maintenance, logistical, and physical labor duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager or other management staff.

Requirements

Technical Skills & Requirements

  • Required: Must have a valid Louisiana Driver’s License.
  • Required: Basic knowledge of general maintenance tasks, including the use of basic tools and power equipment.
  • Required: Basic computer and cellular telephone skills for communication and work order management.

Education & Experience

  • Required Experience: Minimum of 3 years prior experience in general maintenance or a related trade.

Personal Attributes

  • Must be a self-starter and a strong team player.
  • Must be punctual and dependable.
  • Must possess good organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate (oral and written) with all employees, contractors, tenants, and vendors.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, balance, crawl, and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be comfortable and able to work on a ladder up to 15 feet.
  • Must be able to be trained to operate lifts, forklifts, and other power equipment.
  • Must be available and participate in the after-hours on-call, rotating schedule.
