Statement of Job:
UMA transforms the lives of students of every age and background across the State of Maine and beyond through access to high-quality distance and on-site education, excellence in student support, civic engagement, and professional and liberal arts programs.
UMA is the third-largest public university in Maine. In addition to its main campus in the state’s capital, UMA also serves students at its campus in Bangor (UMA Bangor) and through UMA Centers around the state. With its multiple locations and long-term expertise in online and distance learning, UMA is generally considered the university of choice for Mainers of all ages who want to attend college without uprooting their lives.
UMA serves a mix of traditional and non-traditional students and offers a wide array of liberal arts and professional programs leading to certificates, and associate and baccalaureate degrees. Programs are delivered on campus and using a network of University centers and sites across the state and internationally.
UMA's Bachelor of Architecture program is Maine's only professional architecture program and the only public B.Arch in northern New England. The program is built upon our thirty-five-year history of providing architectural education in Maine. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of this new chapter of architectural education in Maine. This appointment would begin in the spring 2026 semester.

- ARC 332: Construction Technique: ARC 332 is a lecture, drafting and sketching course covering construction processes and their associated working drawings.
UMA's Architectural Mission: Architecture through Engagement
Our mission expresses who we are: SMALL...INTEGRATED...HANDS-ON. This fundamentally means we are about people: our students, our faculty, and our community partners. We teach architecture through engagement, educating, and empowering students to explore, investigate, and analyze the built environment. Engagement brings students into active contact with each other, their coursework, and our community partners.
The University of Maine at Augusta's Architecture program is rooted in three essential elements. The first is the mission to engage community; this is where our work takes place. The second is the desire to work in collaboration, within the department, the university, and with community partners; this is what allows us to affect positive change. And third is seen in our curriculum, based on the idea of being "grounded in real;” these are the tools we use to affect our collective build environment. For additional information about UMA's B.Arch, please visit our website at http://www.uma.edu/barch.
