The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is the official national Democratic campaign committee charged with electing Democrats to the U. S. House of Representatives. The DCCC recruits Democratic candidates and supports Democratic campaigns – both challengers and Democratic incumbent Members – with a variety of services including field operations, fundraising support, communications assistance, digital strategy, research support and management consulting. The DCCC is supported by the contributions of individuals and organizations, along with Democratic Members, from throughout the country. Due to the cyclic nature of our organization, all positions are subject to separation at the end of the election cycle.


Position Summary: The DCCC is hiring a Deputy Voter Protection Director (DVPD) for the 2026 election cycle. The DVPD will work with the VPD to help craft the vision for voter protection programming at the DCCC this cycle. The DVPD will manage the Regional Voter Protection Directors (RVPDs) that will cover competitive races across the country. The DVPD will also work closely with the cure team to oversee in-district ballot cure programs in close elections. The DVPD will also manage DCCC’s legislative portfolio by monitoring all developing state legislation related to voting rights in key states. Ideal candidates for this position will have experience managing voter protection programs at a state party and experience creating a voter protection plan. In addition, familiarity with post-voting work as well as an ability to understand the legal landscape as it relates to elections is a plus. 


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of district specific voter protection plans that strategize best use of election administration, poll observation and ballot cure programs
  • Manage the day-to-day responsibilities of the RVPDs
  • Work with the RVPDs to support the Analytics team in the creation and implementation of paths to victory for all DCCC target districts
  • Create, implement and manage a national poll observer program 
  • Build and facilitate relationships between state parties, state voter protection directors and RVPDs to ensure streamlined communication regarding voter protection work
  • Work with attorneys to track legislation, rules, and guidance that could have an impact on the election or voting experience and provide DCCC staff and campaigns with timely updates
  • Become familiar with all ongoing redistricting litigation and be a resource to other departments 
  • Establish structures for registering voters, educating voters on new laws, and expanding opportunities to vote before Election Day 
  • Create systems that facilitate early and frequent contact with local election administrators
  • Develop an integrated legal/political/organizing/comms rapid response system to monitor and resolve voter suppression efforts 
  • Work closely with the post-election team to ensure congressional campaigns are ready in the event of a close election
  • Work across departments to ensure interdepartmental communication and collaboration

Requirements

  • 2+ cycle(s) as a Voter Protection Director or another Voter Protection management role for a state party/coordinated campaign is required
  • 3+ cycles working on political campaigns in a voter protection capacity preferred
  • Experience working at a national committee in a voter protection capacity is highly desired
  • Experience with VAN and LBJ
  • Experience coaching and managing staff
  • Experience helping building election administration and poll observer programs
  • Experience volunteering or working on political campaigns in 3 or more different states is a plus
  • Ties to any of the following states is a plus: Arizona, California, Iowa, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, New York, Nebraska, Nevada, Texas, Virginia
  • Familiarity with election law is preferred but subject matter expertise is not required. 
  • Juris Doctorate is a plus
