The school is seeking a full-time Digital Marketing and Communications Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing, this position is central to meeting the school’s marketing goals, both internally and externally, as one of the finest all-boys college preparatory schools in the nation. The ideal candidate brings high-impact marketing experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and an enthusiasm for and commitment to participating in the daily life of a school. This position is full-time on campus.
Position Summary: The Digital Marketing and Communications Specialist will be responsible for managing Landon’s external and internal marketing efforts. This team member will collaborate with departments across the school to ensure Landon’s message is effectively reaching and impacting target audiences through digital advertising strategies. This team member will ensure our website is maintained as an inspiring “storefront” for the Landon experience while also managing our internal communications, supporting the department as the first point of contact for email messaging, calendar updates, and information portals. The Digital Marketing and Communications Specialist is not the school’s primary content creator but may be asked on occasion to support the team with general event photography and social media storytelling.
Key Responsibilities:
External Marketing and Communications (50%)
- In partnership with the Director of Communications and Marketing, define and establish marketing goals and key performance indicators for paid and organic digital advertising
- Recommend social media posts to boost, set the budget, and track impact
- Conduct regular audits of and improvements to school website content for accuracy and resonance, and make necessary edits and updates as needed within the Finalsite Composer platform
- Consult with admissions, athletics, alumni, development, and arts departments on strategies to enhance digital marketing tactics and audience impact, such as designing email workflows or boosting social media engagement
- Collaborate with Finalsite Insights partners on building and refining search-engine optimized webpages within the Finalsite Composer platform, as well as setting and tracking goals in CrazyEgg.
- With third-party vendors, evaluate and enhance performance of search-engine optimization (SEO) strategy, pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns, display ads, and organic and paid social advertising, ensuring a meaningful return on investment
- Manage a production schedule and marketing schedule for web articles and podcasts produced by our Assistant Director of Communications, including pedagogy blogs and LinkedIn posts attributed to school leadership
Internal Marketing and Communications (40%)
- Manage weekly parent newsletter production, including coordinating content gathering, editing announcements, and publishing by email
- Prepare, review, and send emails written by school administrators through the Veracross student information system
- Design and organize data queries through Veracross to support school operations
- Manage school-wide calendar updates through Veracross, Outlook, and Finalsite
- Design and update information portals in Veracross
Team Support (10%)
- Additional responsibilities may include support with general event photography, copyediting, and replying to email inquiries.
- Other duties as assigned
Additionally, the ideal candidate desires to be an engaged member of the school community and will be required to actively participate in a coaching or other administrative duty alongside their regular responsibilities. This individual brings an eagerness to learn and a curiosity about how to tell powerful stories about schools through various media, not limited to digital formats but also print and environmental marketing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field, or an experiential equivalent as demonstrated by experience in digital marketing, preferably in education, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations
- Proven track record of managing successful digital campaigns across multiple platforms
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms (e.g., Google Ads, Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Campaign Specialist) as well as supporting certifications issued by Google or Coursera, among other learning platforms.
- Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, CrazyEgg, Tag Manager, Data Studio)
- Strong knowledge of SEO/SEM, email marketing, and content strategy
- Experience with website CMS platforms/basic HTML (Landon is a Finalsite school) and database systems (Landon is a Veracross school)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and external vendors
- Strong project management skills with attention to detail and deadlines
- Passion for education and the mission of all-boys schools
